It was headlined 'The wonderful Mamdani regime. 3400 police officers have retired or quit.' Mayor Mamdani was sworn in on the 1st January 2026. This is what we are contending with - constant misinformation and manipulation of voters.

He's probably going to continue to get his way - until 2026 midterm elections. Should the elections be fair and free - and there's a lot of doubt on my part that they will be - the GOP will certainly lose control of the House and I think it's likely that they'll lose the Senate too. Post 2026 elections - if I'm right - nothing is going to happen in Congress - as MAGA and Democrats battle it out - and Trump vetoing anything against him.

It’s certainly delusional if he thinks that Russia has the means or the wherewithal to lead, or dominate Europe. I honestly believe that Trump will not allow these to take place imposing martial law indefinitely. Democracy in the US is over. Get out while you still can.
Might be best for all our mental health to have a Trump detox to save our minds going like his.

And yet... numerous, foundational problems exist in the continuation of Democracy in the USA.
The number one foundational problem is that the right and the left cannot agree on numerous facts - regardless of overwhelming scientific evidence one way or the other.
Why is this so? And what do I propose?
It's so, because anyone can post anything whatsoever and AI will make such posts ever more convincing. And because of this, a huge segment of the right are locked into opposition of clear facts.
What I propose - some sort of neutral fact checking body - independent of government - empowered to rate posts on their factual content.

That said - persuasive disinformation is a reality - and it's only going to get more and more convincing with AI. You'll see videos of your most trusted reporters claim something that is factually false. And the AI will be so persuasive that you cannot tell whether the video you're watching is true or not.
And this is where I'm coming from.
How do you and I, let alone those who have political views opposite ours, have a chance at knowing what's true? And this is 100% key to democracy - if voters are acting on beliefs that are false with no chance of actually distinguishing truth from fiction - then, my friend, we are inevitably headed towards a dystopian 1984.
