Pep Guardiola - 2025/26

It’s pretty spoiled to demand silverware that frequently. Reaks of red cartel entitlement.
That's our level these days though. We're one of the top teams in the world and expect to win trophies.

It's certainly spoiled to expect to win every trophy every season but not to win something in a season. So far there's only 2 seasons we haven't won anything in the last 9, and we've won multiple trophies in many of those seasons.

It's not spoiled to expect to see us play some decent football and create chances. Apart from a few games in the last couple of seasons we haven't even seen that.

It's not spoiled to question why we seem to have gone backwards since winning the treble. I know we won the 4-in-a-row the following season but that was largely down to the mentality and desire of the players to get over the line.

Semenyo only just arrived - scored virtually all his goals for Bournemouth. Only time will tell. Yesterday he was scared to death of taking on fatty Shaw.
Marmoush - again looked great in another country and powder puff here. Hence he cant get a kick. Even when Erling is off form.
Cherki - agreed but cost us yesterday with that poor free kick and and attempted tackle for the breakaway. Needs to work on his stamina/fitness.
Reijnders - looked immense, again in a foreign league. Looks miles off it in the PL.
Nico G - has reliably stepped up
Nypan - will probably get loaned out (see Echerevvi)
Ait Nouri - still unproven at a top side.
Khushanov and Reis - young prospects. If Reis was that good why is he not getting recalled when we have a defence injury crisis.
Guehi - Great deal and a great playet
Donnarumma - most recent signing that sits in the world class bracket.
Sorry pal but if Pep can't get the best out of that lot it's his fault, the club backed him big time, he has to step up.

I don’t think that’s the case at all. Pep doesn’t need to react to adapt to how football is changing, Pep has his own ways that he innovates himself from week to week. With this young squad of players who lack experience of winning things, it often works but sometimes like yesterday doesn’t.

Pep is doing just fine and we’ll get much better with him as this squad gets more experienced.

There’s only one coach in world football I’d even consider getting rid of Pep for, and he looks happy in Paris so why would he come here?, and I wouldn’t want to lose Pep for him anyway, he’s just the only one I’d consider.

I want Pep to see through this transition and not leave us until this next squad is as good as it can be in four years or so.
Personally I think Enrique will come, you say why would he come here when it’s the most simple of answers. The French league is shite and he’s won the chumps for them so his job is done, and the Prem is the best league in the world.

I’d have him tomorrow, but obviously more likely to be at the end of a season, and I’m just hoping he’s the guy we’ve got lined up before Vince does a dynasty.

Agree . We are spending hundreds of millions on a squad and that is to win trophy’s and not just qualify for champions league and that’s not entitled it’s fact .

Still in the League cup, still in the FA Cup, still in the CL, still 2nd in the League and that's not entitled either

Watched it again but sorry it’s all on pep.

Lack of subs used over months = exhausted players yesterday

Putting players in wrong positions is just not working

Tactics over the last 18 months generally have not helped us & I would say are to blame for many lost points.

Pep is trying to play a system not suited to the game now & certainly for players we don’t have & that includes all new buys. We need tactics for players we have!

Last 18 months have been very poor for city level & I don’t see any trophies again this season which will result in a scenario this summer & I hope the club have a new manager lined up unlike zero planning on transfers for 2 years.

Love pep & he will never be replicated but all good things come to a natural end

Yesterday it was clear from the lineup that we would struggle defensively - high line with Lewis & Aké as fullbacks was daft. Particularly as Lewis was inverting. Neither have pace to cover and it was baffling when we had 2 LBs on the bench. Khus was good enough at RB to start there against Arsenal and if we needed Aké's experience in the back, just put him as LCB. Persisting with Lewis at RB and subbing Alleyne at HT was bizarre.

Thought the set up played to United's strengths, not ours, and the subs weren't great. The players do take a lot of responsibility as well, as they were shite, but not a good day for Pep. Still, the bad days are still outnumbered by the great days!

We're 2nd in the league and still in all competitions.

If our forward players could have hit the back of the net with all the wasted chances we'd be top. That's not on Pep.

How has he been sussed??
And how we are second in the league is showing how poor the PL is this season IMO.

Our treble side would be 10 points clear if it was around this season.

Liverpool have dropped away after spending a kings ransom.

Arsenal dont look to be all that.

I don't think Pep has been "sussed", I personally think the style of the PL is changing. We are seeing more and more athletic style players. Teams are pressing with purpose, so our players don't have the luxury of that extra couple of seconds on the ball. Losing Ederson (even though I think Donna is a top top keeper) has made us less lethal in playing the ball out from the back.

Our slower build up is allowing those well drilled athletic players to quickly get 10 men back behind the ball.

You can see the change in Semanyo already. Yes it's only 3 games in for him, and United are a better opposition than Exeter and Newcastle. But yesterday he gave Luke Shaw one of the easiest games he will have for the rest of the season. He was continually looking to chop back inside and recycle the ball. He hardly made any runs in behind or quick interchanges with anybody.

It's up to Pep to try and find an answer to this. We can't keep having runs of 3 or 4 games where we are lacklustre, if we want to clean up again.

But that’s after a good first half of season and now the wheels are falling off and pep needs to earn his massive salary . He gets lauded when it’s going great but now needs to be on it again .

That’s partly because we’re missing 10 first team players. Hopefully some on way back now.

So you accept we're not doing to badly then :-)

Our treble side were 2nd and six points behind Arsenal at this exact point in the 22/23 season.

Better comparison would be our 18/19 team who were miles clear then and would be miles clear now.

This is the situation our team get themselves in. Before Khusanov we had Akanji with the ball here. Passing around with 0 space and idea what to do. We always end up one step to much to shot or to pass and we give the ball away. There is no crossing or shooting. Erling and the rest are useless in front of their GK.

Semenyo will end up like Jack Grealish passing back.

We need new playing style. More direct, quick and aggressive football. I am afraid this can come only with the new manager. We already signed enough new players to change it but the change is not coming.

Yes but were Arsenal as poor as they are now?

I would say No.

The whole PL in general has dropped in terms of quality.

I've watched some dog awful games this season. Not involving City.
