PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

It all sounds a bit too much like a revenge fantasy to me. People want us to be proven "innocent" (literally not possible) and then exact some kind of revenge on Richard Masters, PGMOL, Liverpool, United and the rest.

If the UAE wanted to use something like Pegasus over a football investment, what have they been waiting for exactly? It's the same as the opposition fans conspiracy that the UAE will kill any guilty verdict. If they had the power and inclination to do so, why didn't they do it before the investigation was opened? During the investigation? Before the charges? If you have the political influence to get someone off a murder charge from day 1 you don't wait until the jury's delivered their verdict.

And if they were, with no offence to TH who I respect as a poster, they sure as shit aint disclosing that they're using top secret spyware for corporate espionage to anyone who might come into contact with a sports journalists with twitter platforms known to leak info.

We had this in 2020 too. Another very prominent poster on the forum promised City were going to unleash hell on all our enemies as soon as the CAS verdict came out and it would land all the red clubs and UEFA in boiling hot water. 6 years later...it hasn't, becase of course it hasn't.
I think Tolmie said Pegasus as a metaphor rather than the tool for spyware.

in that respect I feel it’s a positive indicator.

Would you rather ; -

A. City found guilty on one of the minor charges but it also exposes a hive of corruption from the PL through to the red shirt clubs.

or

B. City completely exonerated and no shit-show for the PL either.
A

I’d be disappointed in City if they don’t go after the red tops once found guilty. But I get the feeling the board are all for the quiet life, and will just move on

Perhaps you are right, especially if we were to receive a substantial amount of " compensation or reimbursement of fees" we have incurred defending the club.

Fanciful, because I don't anything regarding the possible outcome(s) ?

Is it?

Condense it down to 5/6 charges and 12/18 months should be enough. Hiding behind complexity and PR brand damage?

It’s a load of crap, that’s why it’s not written up. Prob knew the outcome after the hearing.
They probably had a good idea of what the final outcome would be after the 1st day's hearing!

Pep has went all William Wallace :

They may take our points but they will never take our treble…

If not maybe pep can call his buddies in the Isreal intelligence to make the emails disappear.

My theory is that, FWIW, is intelligence on this has been in operation from day 1. Just waiting to see if stolen emails have been used as evidence against us, and if so maybe we have used gathered intelligence in our defence. Levy and the Le arse guy going as well as scruffy Jim's charm offensive hasn't happened because the PL and Masters are battering us in the hearing. Because if that was the case they would have stayed to shout they were right all along and be seen as the saviours from evil City.
Keep the faith we will win this.

In terms of the most serious charges, there can be only two broad outcomes.or

Hypotheticallly:

If we are found guilty, that would be a tough one for us but, assuming any verdict was substantiated with sufficient, cogent evidence, after an appeal process, we’d have to take it on the chin and deal with any subsequent sanctions. I’m not certain, however, this scenario would raise any long term issues for English football, particularly the premier league. We’d simply be thrown under the bus - I suspect the media would stick the boot in and much of the footballing world would be imbued with fake rage, until it became obvious they weren’t getting any compo and Burnley wasn’t being awarded league titles retrospectively. After taking our medicine, we would eventually regroup and move on and rebuild the Deathstar.

If, on the other hand, we really did produce irrefutable evidence and were exonerated on all of the serious charges, surely this would ignite flames that wouldn’t simply self-extinguish over time? It would surely raise significant questions about how it was ever allowed to get this far and why. I just can’t see a scenario where the premier league would be able to move forwards and accept they completely misjudged English football’s most high profile legal case. There may be subsequent innuendo and sound bites to perpetuate the idea that the threshold could not be met because of City’s obfuscation etc. and that the investigation wasn’t frivolous, but was necessary and in the best interests of the footballing community blah blah, blah … But that surely wouldn’t cut it? The Premier League would be a laughing stock that lacked credibility, authority and were now demonstrably open to influence. We also don’t know what other skulduggery has been unearthed and whether this has further complicated processes.

I suppose I’m clumsily saying that finding us not guilty of the main charges would have enormous repercussions for the premier league and all of the parties that may have applied pressure/influence in the first place.

How the fuck do they manage this scenario in terms of justifying the investment of time, energy and expenditure, especially if it appears there were ‘no weapons of mass destruction’ after all. Could this be a genuine existential threat to the Premier League? Or, are there scenarios whereby damage could be limited, with some cooperation from City, and could this be the reason that it is taking so long, even if the verdict has not been officially shared? The panel will be acutely aware that they are about to push the nuclear button and need to be very sure they have this absolutely watertight.

‘Just clinging to positive reasons for the delay ….

I genuinely think the parties know and its what the punishment is either way? Its arguably one of the biggest decisions in english football history now so say City have proved they were targeted and there all say emails or whatsapp messages that show Scudamore and Masters have colluded with Arsenal, Rags, Dippers and Spuds to target us and basically corrupted the league then the league need to have minimal damage to the brand even though the credibility has bee blown to pieces anyway? Then the others side is if we have been naughty and caught then the roles are reversed and we are desperately trying to minimize the damage?

And the PL would allow us to minimise the damage? Lol

I believe the (Greek god) Pegasus reference is about all that is good and beautiful in the game mixed with all that is bad and ugly, and that it is very likely that this will all become public knowledge upon completion of the witch hunt
