How can it be DOGSO when neither Haaland or Szobozlai touched the ball? Cherki hit it and it went in it had fuck all to do with Haaland and Szobozlai having a tussle.

Bollocks decision.

It’s DOGSO exactly the same as if the ball stopped on the 6 yard line and Haaland couldn’t tap it in because he’d been pulled back.

If he wasn’t fouled, Haaland scores. So it’s DOGSO.

Fouling Haaland denies him from scoring the goal and allows Szoboszlai to then get to it and clear it. That’s the point. Only Haaland fouling him back allows the ball to go into the net without anyone touching it.
You're completely missing the point.

The ball goes in from Cherki, without any touch, fouling Haaland is not the denial of a goal scoring opportunity. He doesn't need to touch it even if he gets past Szoboszlai

Plus it was given on the pitch as a goal.

How can you possibly complain after that???
Tbh mate I can’t breathe still. What a performance. Fuck Var. Fuck the scousers. We’re well back in this title race, and if history is anything to go by, this team will fight to the end.
I’m not, read my original post.

I thought some of our players were outstanding.

Never thought I’d see the day. Brilliant

Like I said neither of them touched the ball. Cherki hit it and scored. Haaland and Szoboszlai should be irrelevant.

The only advantage from a DOGSO is a goal or a clear attempt at goal (ie if Haaland got there and spooned it wide).

So when Haaland fouls back and stops the play, we didn’t get any advantage, hence the red.

But there Was a goal.

I know there was a foul, but after the advantage is played.

Work it backwards. Cherki has scored, any reason to rule it out? Yeah, Szoboszlai was about to clear it and was fouled by Haaland. However, the only reason Szoboszlai is in a position to clear it, is because he has fouled Haaland ahead of him, who would have got to the ball and scored.

Szoboszlai being able to clear the ball before he was fouled is the reason they have to go further back and give the red card.

All three fwds were poor today, the final pass, the work rate, not good. I won’t let a great result hide that fact.

Haaland hasn’t been good for a while, I think you have to acknowledge that, hopefully a balls of steel pen kick starts him again.

Semenyo, will have to improve, no doubt, I feel he will, when he gets into a rhythm.

Marmoush, yes, he can be a Jonny on the spot, he’s capable of good moments, but his general play is really poor, and he’s physically and mentally weak. He won’t be with us past the summer.
I think Semenyo was quite poor today in particular. Don't think he'll have too many like that though.

Very pleased with the result in a match that could have gone either way.
Much the better team in the first-half.
Much the lesser team in the second.
I had given up the game and sacrificed myself to accepting that sometimes you lose to a worldy - and it was one.
I thought it was a clear penalty, but it shows how VAR is a nonsense because Foden's the other week was denied because the ball had already left his foot: it is the inconsistency that drives fans nuts.
The ending was farce and everyone would have accepted 1-3 with no sending off.

Shout out to Marmoush, Khusanov, Guehi, Nunes, O'Reilly, Bernardo, and Rodri.
I though O'Reilly did a lot of good work in keeping their best player from leaving his half.
Marmoush was a constant threat.

Thing is if Pawson had just played the additional 7 minutes instead of ‘finding’ another2 minutes and blown when he should have done then there would have been no VAR issue. The cheating twat.
There was a penalty and VAR check as well as Nunes smashed into the advertising boards. It was perfectly reasonable to add time on

He is what he is. Very talented, but also quite immature and 22.

He’s only going to grow and with the right management cut out the stupid parts of his game and get better at the stuff he’s already great at.
Didn't know he was only 22. He's going to be a cracking signing.
