I think a lot of the day trippers still went as they slashed the ticket prices to £50 and below.
A lot of serious Welsh rugby fans just don't want to give the WRU any more money, they're just waiting for the vote of no confidence next month to kick the current lot out.
The mismanagement of Welsh Rugby over the last decade has been absolutely criminal. They make ~£120m a year and only give £20m to the regions. They dismantled the national academy that produced the Gatland generation of players and then slashed the regions budgets so they couldn't afford elite academies either. Howell the plumber is getting paid to turn out for his amateur club side, while people who have wanted to invest millions into the professional game have been blocked and chased away.
The whole thing is a gravy train for the aboslute worst kind of people. The IRFU spends €11m a year on overheads - admin, support and hospitality. The WRU spends ~£30m. IRFU spends 65% of it's money on the professional game, and the WRU 30%.
It's a criminal enterprise at this point, deliberately running the professional game into the ground while the execs pay themselves every penny they can.
Even if, by magic, someone came in and had the power to single handedly sort the WRU out, Wales are 10 years behind the rest of the tier 1 sides now, you won't see them competing for 6N titles or reaching RWC semi finals for the foreseeable future.
