North Stand Construction Discussion

I think it is more that a lot of blue has been removed, and city tops and scarves replaced with leather and tweed. And the badge etc.

I'm just commenting on how I think people excited for this might be seeing it fwiw. My view on it (this element of it) hasn't changed.

I can understand that mate to be fair, the club should never be embarrassed or try to hide who plays at this fucking stadium and be proud of that!

I agree, lets wait and see before throwing toys out of the pram! Every City fan needs to try and be accommodated and its a business?! What you would like 50 other people dont so its best to not take it personal? If we want to go in and accept what it is then great, if you think something is too expensive and stay your normal routine then great but no one person has a right to dictate a price or what they want due to being an old school City fan? Matchday income will only ever be boosted by tourist fans and hospitality and thats just a fact! Football seems to be the only industry where fans tell you what price they want to pay for tickets, beer, drinks, merchandise to keep their costs down but then want £100m world class players on £400-500,000 a week and wonder with all the FFP and PSR rules where the money comes from?! After a while, the tale cant wag the dog.
The tail hasn't been wagging the dog for a long time. The club could do a great deal more to accommodate City fans and protect its revenue mate. There is a balance to be struck. At the moment their is little balance, it is all about revenue and ultimately that is going to hollow out the traditional fanbase. If the club model is that they will always be successful enough to attract tourists to their entertainment complex then good luck to them. I think its a hell of a gamble.

It will be interesting to see how they stop fans from coming in if it's at capacity. Also in the corners where you are supposed to be able to walk through. Anyone wanting to walk from the CB stand to the East stand will have to walk around.

I've always thought and said that it will be a free for all and not controlled. I still do.
It can't be for all, as there's a capacity. So how do they decide, especially after the game? In some sense, that was always there as the fans in the north stand could get to City Square sooner and fill the bars, but this feels different.

I've not seen enough detail eg even if there any turnstiles within the enclosed area, so I wait and see, but I don't think this is going to be an area for 3,000 hardcore City fans to get an atmosphere going before the match or discuss it afterwards. Suspect a half and half scarf will be compulsory attire

There absolutely will be free movement, but under the hood, capacity will be watched via CCTV to make sure there's no overcrowding. There would be no safety certification otherwise. This has been something in place for decades and was even used in court during the Hillsborough disaster trials since CCTV showed the central pen to be clearly over crowded. Applies at all venues. It's not advertised or part of the show, but it's there in the background.

I meant free for all as in, not ticketed, turnstiled, etc. Cctv and general observstion should be expected as in any public gathering space.

Why are so many getting pissed off AGAIN about this? From what i have read over the last few months, most of you drink at a local pub and not at the ground, dont eat at the ground, buy fake football shirts etc so dont go in the club shop so nothing is going to change your routine?
Because they just like to MOAN ! Its embarassing

Really ? Nit picking at it's finest...

Why would it NOT enhance your experience ? Seriously ?
Seriously? Well parking will be more difficult for one. The car parks have already been closed to fans three times this season. I thought the new square would have seating for eating. Doesn’t appear so. Just have to wait and see and if it’s brilliant I’ll be the first to say so.

There is a huge F&B area Food Court on the left side in the hotel building accessed from Medlock Sq which has tables and chairs it’s no different, in this respect, than City Square was, the area under the roof is more like the area around the stage in City Square
The whole concept is a multi use facility which is a revenue generator for the club absolutely necessary to be able to buy the players etc
Will be interesting as to what they have planned for the collar site to generate the footfall
