Metrolink to / from Etihad

Forget price of tickets or concerns about how the club are selling tickets, I think the biggest reason for the amount of empty seats we are seeing is the appalling transport issues.
Spot on I have been banging on about this for years.

Contacted Burham got a generic response, contacted Metrolink got a load of waffle. contacted the Club they never replied.

Sixty one thousand fans at a game and twenty three and a half thousand at a concert - LOVELY.

You think civil engineers and transport experts don't have all manner of transport schemes to better connect places? They all fail because the state can't finance it. See the High Speed 2.

Politicians can't do magic. I am not apologising for them. just pointing out that UK plc is bankrupt. Keynesian economists would borrow the money and argue that the economic returns would pay off the debt but when the public debt becomes enormous, this becomes difficult to do. Much of city centre is built on the basis of loans made by the Greater Manchester Authority, and has been subject to legal action.

So why is the Etihad allowed to increase its capacity and a huge indoor arena given the go ahead. They are putting the customers at risk.

Couldn't agree more we live in Warrington and always drove, we now get train to Oxford Road tram St Peters Square and back waited at St Peters for 20 odd mins for a tram at 6.45 it was rammed managed to get the 2 of us on no one got on at piccadilly gardens and waited 10 mins to move got to ground at 7.25 100s if not 1000s stuck in town with no tram, decided to walk back to town with my fucked back and 2 recently new hips got to piccadilly train station for the 10.05 didn't turn up till 10.30.
It really is becoming a massive problem this transport issue for all fans, at 65 I'm thinking hard about my future as a match going fan and after 55 years of attending that's a big decision.

Horrible going to the match somehow made it on time for the game

Coming back that woman shouting move up all the time wants to get a grip of herself.
No need for that all other staff manage so why not her.
Quiete a few angry blues last night at her.
I saw blues arguing with each other after the game. It was one of those very rare games where the disappointment is huge. I felt mad too. The frustration for me was that we didn't even have a go, and let the game drift through our fingers. We showed a lack of focus and did the exact opposite of the cliche...'taking each game as it comes'. Pep was thinking about the next game. Now everything becomes more difficult.

They are not. You are just fixated on your tram journey. The great mass of people walk easily back to Manchester city centre.

Crikey, that's really bad. I think there was a signal problem on trains around Alty as well pre kick off which affected the trams. Who in their right mind thinks a patchy regular timetable is adequate on event days? Metrolink get a good butty from match and concert fans and in return they get treated like shite. Shocking at times.
If you google transport problems at Co-op Live you will see hundreds of negative reviews from people who have been caught in chaos with poor parking, crowded trams, no proper taxi provision etc. This sits with Burnham. Nothing has been done to improve things. A total embarrassment for Manchester.

Unless you live in central Manchester the situation is dire. Northern Trains are the worst train network in Europe, Avanti not much better. The Metrolink is overwhelmed. I have watched City at more than 100 stadiums across Europe and the UK. The transport at the Etihad is amongst the worst. Not even proper taxi ranks for the Arena. It has never been harder to attend a night match. Very few late trains and no specials.

Your comments echo what I've said previously. That Metrolink at times is a blight on the city and everything it claims to be. As for Burnham, he needs to get those clowns who run that shitshow tram service and tell them to get it sorted. The proposed industrial action a few months back was averted with the proviso of improved conditions for staff and a better service for the public. If anything it's been worse.

Marvin that all sounds like A level politics, I haven't got a scooby what Keynesian economists are.
How about the Metro don't build a line to Stockport until they sort the current shit out.
They should not have been allowed half of the recent expansion until the problems were sorted out but they were, let's stop now before it collapses.
Why was planning permission given to build the concert venue (apart from the lies told - no concert on match days) as the transport network cannot cope with it.
I would even argue City should not have been allowed the new stand without putting money directly into the tram system to improve it. As it is, I am thankful the club subsidise buses otherwise I might sack of night matches because of the tram.

I know who you mean, she’s at it every match. We call her the Fucking Witch.

I don't use the trams but until Burnham puts on a false beard and travels to/from the ground a couple of games and does the same trying to drive in fuck all will change.

So fuck all will change.

There'll come a time when co-op users think fuck it and attendance at gigs will suffer too.

A match day/concert train shuttle from Piccadilly should be a priority to a new station on the freight line that skirts the stadium footprint

I disagree. They’re using it once or twice a year, it’s part of the experience. But it gets very tiresome after the first couple of times, but we’re just football fans so it’s alright!
Maybe maybe not, if I was taking a couple of school aged kids and ended up with us all drenched/freezing cold unable to get them home in a reasonable timescale I'd be less inclined to take them to another show and that's without us lot doing whatever we do & swearing everywhere.

It is very damaging to the city's reputation beccause people travel for all over the UK to gigs at the arena. The venue is fantastic but the infrastructure is a joke.
