Metrolink to / from Etihad

Why anyone would get a tram from Piccadilly to the ground unless they’re a pensioner or disable d is beyond me.
At a push I’d jump in a cab with a few others..and it’s cheaper.
It’s just bone idleness.
Uber was £7.50 between 4 of us yesterday. Booked it and it was outside the pub 2 minutes later.

There are some possible solutions to the Piccadilly Station issue, but it would need someone with the desire at Metrolink to implement them. One is to terminate one or two of the trams from Bury at Picc Gardens, then run it empty to Piccadilly to queue burst.

Other than that, everytime I use the tram in either rush hour or football, they are "dangerously" full. Not sure there is anything that can be done about that - its the same all over the world.

Even the efficient German transport systems can’t cope at times.

It’s not just Metrolink.

England fans have raised "serious concerns" about transport delays at Euro 2024 after some supporters were left stranded for hours following the team's win over Serbia on Sunday.

Fans complained of issues getting to and from the Arena AufSchalke in Gelsenkirchen, Germany, with many missing connecting trains after the game and some instead opting to walk miles to their destination.

It’s going to be interesting to see how Metrolink and the buses cope when the Etihad is expanded to 62,000, the Coop Live Arena concerts are on, and the Euros are held at the Etihad.

The problem with Sunday as someone who went was that there was no uefa officials maintaining any sort of queue.

Manchester will be different for the euros you can walk back into the town centre as anyone knows who's been to schalke the ground is literally in the middle of nowhere ( basically like Brightons ground)

Good news for City fans travelling from London and parts of the West Midlands for home games.

PNW.

London Northwestern Railway, operated by West Midlands Trains, is behind the proposals, which could fill some of the void left by the HS2 Northern leg cancellation.

Their plans would see current services between London Euston and Crewe extended through to Manchester Victoria, and services between Stafford and Crewe extended to Manchester Airport.

The operator says this would create additional capacity with the introduction of direct links from Rugeley, Lichfield, Tamworth, and Atherstone in the West Midlands to Manchester and Warrington.

It is hoped the service could be up and running from summer 2026 linking Manchester city centre to London with the operator’s Class 730 electric trains earmarked to handle the journeys.

Each 10-car train would have the capacity to carry more than 1,200 passengers.

I know, I’ve been. :-)

You are correct.

This looks a very similar proposal to one made by ( I think ) First Group a few weeks ago.

Not sure if this is instead or aswell though.
