Trouble with the new tranche of marvel films you need to have watched the tv shows to know whats happened to the characters, for example Loki died in Infinty Wars but is now back but if you haven’t watched the tv shows (many which are shite) you’ll be confused. I’m looking forward to the new Spider-Man and doomsday but after the crap since IF it’s not saying much.
Yeah, I get you.
I think, though, if the filmmakers were serious, they'd not be number crunching data about what character is great, makes money or whatever, the character's progression and or ending would remain just that.
However, it's not the directors doing this, it's the execs. By now, 'Young Avengers' should be in play, but they're not because there's too much money in 'Wolverine', 'X-men', 'Avengers' cos they're afraid to lose the money attached to them. I mean, ffs, Patrick Stewart is 85 and they STILL want to drag him back to play 'Prof X'!!
I think, also, part of the problem is the modern comics reaching back to retell new stories with old characters, so have different outcomes. I think this plays into the directional confusion and changes of character arcs in films that make no sense.
I get fed up with it myself!
With that said, the 'Loki' series has been the BEST Marvel TV show outside of 'Legion', which I still maintain was ahead of its time!
