North Stand Construction Discussion

I questioned it being ready for the start of 2025/26 and was told by "informed" posters there wasn't much to do and it could be.

It would be quicker not to open the stand at all this season and get the rest of it ready. Matches slow things down, and I reckon they would have thought the whole lot would be more or less PC before the time lost in June/July to the pop concerts.

There are no additional matched possible this season after the Madrid game, which helps them plan better, but I can't see it open next month, as it would cost construction days.

Fwiw, you weren't 'told', or if you felt that way and that was me, then it wasn't intended as that. I simply gave my opinion based on my observation and feeling on it. Left room for balance too, and recognised things we can't know or see. Hopefully nothing negative taken there.

I don't disagree it would he cleaner to open it next season. I even previously talked about 'at what point do they give up this season and focus on the next'. Ultimately, when they feel fairly sure they can't reasonably hit this one. Till then, they aren't just going to delay it into next season for ease.

There does seem to be a commitment to hit a target that was always stated. And I don't think that's unachievable at this point, based on what I can see, and 'colouring in' what I can't. That's just my opinion mate.

@tailspin747 raised the point of the new comms box looking like an eyesore

They could cover most of the comms box and the roof works by installing a split LED screen.

This helps the club generate income and gives the ground the four screens that everyone wanted

The company behind the double advertisement boards is going to be on site shortly to install the screens at the hotels and office block, they could sort this area out as well

Exposed roof plant turns me on. ;-)

We know for a fact that it was always planned to open this season. Both the club and Sisk publicly said it.

For arguement's sake if it wasn't, 'Pep leaving' could in theory have been used as a reason to try bring a contracted date forward, but practically on something of this scale and cost, such a ballache and expense, with a huge safety consideration, that I doubt it would have been enough or worth it.

Plus, no way the club share something that sensitive with a contractor in charge of so many hairy arsed builders, it would be impossible to keep a lid on.

But immaterial, as we do know they (that's Sisk, not the club) are simply throwing what is needed at it to hit the last possible chance of achieving a pre determined deadline.

Could be their penalties kick in if they miss it, could be that's as far as the extensions of time can take them. Or as mentioned by BS, it is a condition of the funding, which is by far the most believable.

Tolmie being a passionate blue will be living and breathing every thought and emotion, and his habit of sharing that with his followers may set a few off and add to the already rampant rumours. Pep may even end up leaving, but I do think in this case, any chance of the two being deliberately and knowingly linked, is insignificant if not impossible.
Yep, don’t disagree with any of that. Was just sharing cos it seemed to tie in with R30’s post on here.

A 4th screen would not look like that at all. If you did put a new screen in you could only have it as tall as the space that you have and your mock up is way out of proportion.

Sorry, I could not get it to sit right. My point is that all the comms box needs is the window, so have a split screen on either side of it

I appreciate it’s the exterior of the Etihad, but there is plenty of plant visible in the top of South stand.

It might only be, but I love seeing plant on roof tops. That’s probably down to the pictures I take of the city centre skyline from the top level of car parks, high vantage points, and sky bars, where you can see loads of plant across the city centre. I personally don’t have a problem with seeing plant on top of the control room. I appreciate others will think it’s a mess, an eyesore, and it detracts from the inside of the Etihad.

A lot of the plants are for the BNG rules which came in 2 years ago.

"where you can see loads of plant across the city centre"

I wasn't on about the south stand redevelopment it was a general comment on the city centre. However, there has also been a big development just north of the north stand, and it applies to that too, and you offset as near as possible or buy credits.
