Of his many faults and indiscretions, I can't see any sort of collusion, with the Russians, being one of them.
Especially as his stand with Zelenskyy was a huge political statement, at the time.

Any way, back to Sir Kier.

His inability to "read the room" is beyond amazing. He's the most unpopular PM in history - arguably one of the most unpopular people in the country, in or out of politics.

And yet instead of thinking ok the game is up, and going with some dignity, he is still under the illusion that he can survive this and fight the next general election.

He is almost Trump-like in his inability to recognise his own failings.

The weird question is - what’s he sticking around for? It’s not like he has some deeply held principles he is desperate to advance through policy.
 
Even if you take the kindest view of him that you could possibly take, in that everything he says is 100% correct, it means that at best he is completely and utterly incompetent. And when the likes of Diane Abbot correctly calls out your incompetence, you must know the end is nigh.

I know this is the Starmer thread but it’s astonishing how this gets twisted by so many. Johnson didn’t resign because he misled Parliament. He resigned over the Chris Pincher business and did so because those in his own party had had enough of his lies and bullshit.
 
Think Starmer is pretty much done now, and will likely be gone by the conference season.

Seems implausible that he wasn’t told, but even so, as Abbott pointed out yesterday, his lack of curiosity was grossly negligent at best. Reckon he’s now lost the support of the PLP.

Assume it will be Rayner who replaces him, although Burnham has to be in with a shout if an MP falls on their sword for him. Be interesting to see how that affects our relationship with Trump - can’t see Rayner kowtowing like Starmer has done at times.
