North Stand Construction Discussion

I know the fans won’t get upset. I never said upset. There was a lot of fall out from the Coop Live Area premature opening, and I don’t want something similar happening to the North stand opening. If the tier is open for the Villa match, it should be something positive, a wow factor for the fans, added to what could be very special day for the fans and the club if City win the title and do the domestic treble.(not tempting fate)

Other than that, it’s just me. I like everything to be completed. To be finished. To look good. I’ve been to loads of new builds in town, towers, office blocks, etc, when they have been completed fully, and they look superb. Some have blown me away. I want that for the new tier and North stand.

I remember going to Spurs new stadium in the CL. That blew me away. I want that for all City fans who will be in the new tier for the Villa game, if that happens? I’m looking forward to seeing the pictures and the videos, as I will be stood on SSL1 for the game.

That post explained why it won’t.

It’s because the plans only show about a tenth of it being done that people querying it.
Yes but the plans cover the extension and Medlock square including street furniture and trees.JMW is no more than re surfacing and will probably be shared with the arena and the ABBA thing,no need for it to be included in the plans, won’t need any planning permission.

They might do a test run in sections (potentially brentford ),the first 10 rows upto the new tunnels .
These test events don't have to be an actual match do they? Could they not just invite fans down to get the certificate on a Monday night, the rest of the stadium doesn't have to be in use perhaps? I seem to recall Celtic doing similar up here when they installed safe standing seats.

I went to a SSL3 test event. That was a one hour training session and some novelty PR stuff. The thing I remember most; the players were asked to kick complimentary footballs into the crowd and only Ederson could reach the new top tier.

Why would they show any more? As part of this approval.
No idea, not a topic I know much about. I remember the plan being posted on this thread with a few people saying it looked like they were genuinely stopping after a few metres. I believed them as that’s what the plan seemed to show.

Not going to happen, the concourse would be jam packed which would be a safety hazard.

The club might partially open the bottom section of the new tier?

I’m just thinking if the NSL2 concourses aren’t finished before the Villa game.

The on ourses might already be finished?

Picture coming of the area outside the new turnstiles taken over the wooden hoardings. ;-)

Plus if they did, it would have extended the application boundary and increased their £90k application fee by a good few thousand more.

Things may move very quickly over the next few weeks... Be interesting to see what's announced after the bank holiday... I think what happens on the pitch will decide how much of a push there is...

If it's the same as SSL3 there has to be 3 tests events... 1 with 1k in, 1 at 50% (3.5k) and one at full capacity...

The bottom picture is wide angle.

Yea, my point is that is all it needs to show. Doesn't mean there aren't any intentions to extend it beyond that, just not as part of this specific approval.

Read somewhere that the club were hoping to have the hotel etc., open for the concerts in the summer , Take That is in mid-June , looking at the current state of the build its looking optimistic.
Hoepfully its open for the start of next season , it will look impressive when its all finished
You can book a stay at the Medlock Hotel from October 1st

Very true the reason for test events is to ensure that the public access is suitable especially in the event of an emergency evacuation there is no need to have the rest of the stadium or an actual event
