PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

There is that. But this would be a whole other level, if you think through the implications of it.
I'm not sure how it could get much worse than splitting up the broad allegations over multiple years into a contrived "115 charges" narrative and briefing it to media behind City's back. The role of the PL, which has 20 stakeholders, is to represent all member clubs fairly and impartially. The press releases it puts out should be factual and fair.
Instead what happened is that certain Club Directors seemed to be in the loop (at least in the early stages) and were allowed to brief their pals in the press with anti-City propaganda. The Judges in their APT statement stated that City had been treated "unfairly and unlawfully" in that case. The published evidence showed that PL officials were obstructive and delayed the investigation process. That process itself also involved the direct involvement of a Non Exec Director from the PL Board. This is totally unethical. Smells like bad faith to me.

There's one thing in there that I hadn't thought about. I've said previously that I believe the reason related parties is part of the charges is to force us to reveal details of our commercial agreements with Etihad and other partners. Obviously the PL knows this via the APT rules but the other clubs don't.

So while it's pure speculation, I wonder if there's a stand-off over redaction of these details in the final report, maybe even involving going to court.
Who decides on what gets redacted? Do we know?
I'd have thought in the case say of sensitive commercial information, the club would say they wanted something redacted and the IC would say yes or no? The PL wouldn't/shouldn't have any say in that?
(I've clearly no idea :-))

From the article:

First, there could be disagreement over whether parts of the judgment should be redacted. Either side could claim there is commercially sensitive information in the decision that should be kept out of the public gaze.

There is no actual provision in the rules that allows for redactions of a final judgment, save for medically sensitive or safeguarding information – but that doesn’t mean one or both sides won’t try. Also, technically speaking, if the decision is considered to be an ‘interlocutory’ (non-final) one, then redactions for confidentiality issues can be made.

There is form here: back in 2021, a dispute about the League’s investigation into City went to the Court of Appeal on the question of whether a judgment linked to the investigation should be published. Such disagreements can be resolved within a matter of days but – given the toxic nature of this case and the potentially scandalous revelations that could be included in the judgment – one side may attempt to bring a legal challenge to whatever the panel decides on redactions. The panel’s decision could in itself end up in the High Court in a further challenge – something we may not know about until after it has happened. So delays aplenty.

Pinch of salt. Been claiming imminent for months.

I know where my money would go here.

Told us plenty of times that there hasn't been any verdict when loads have told us he's wrong, there has been and it's just a big settlement which is being sorted off the record between us and the PL and we'll hear about it soon. Everything he's said has stood up, and seems backed up in that Lawyer article today.

1000041429.jpgFeck me, christian smith@ the lawyer, can't help himself, like the rest of them. Just to remind you Smithy, there is a possibility that City will be cleared and the Premier league could once again be found to have acted unfairly and unlawfully. So Smithy, what is probably going on is that the PL are shxxting their pants after letting Levy and Lewis run this whole show and now that their clubs have sacked them because they know the ruling will be disastrous for them, and have moved Levy and Lewis on to create some distance between them. Scruffy jim backtracking started that particular ball rolling.
Keep the faith blues, we will win this.

I'm 73 and am worried incase I don't get to hear the verdict.I feel just like the guy in the Dirty Harry film when Clint couldn't remember how many shots he fired, "I just got to know"
The actor in question was Albert Popwell…..he stared in all the Dirty Harry movies except the final episode of the series The Dead Pool…as he was contracted to another film unfortunately so couldn’t commit to filming…..

If anyone's interested in 3,000 words of analysis on what reasons may lie behind the length of time being taken for the Panel in the PL and MCFC case to issue its judgment, The Lawyer magazine has just published this piece: Where is the Manchester City judgment? Eight possible scenarios

Not able or willing to respond myself to questions on here concerning this article. Maybe someone else will be, but that's up to them.

Good to have you back, matey :)

I am approaching 82 with leaky heart valves - I am making a written note of the mediums I see my wife watching on TV and including said note in my will kit for the executors to activate.

The most telling thing, is the prelude. Why is this wait now an issue? Oh that's right, because City might actually win the title.

The only interesting thing there for me was the revelation that the chelsea 'verdict' was in fact a settlement rather than a unilateral decision/sanction.
