I’m almost certain that it was announced as a 2 year extension and it was asked if it was 1+1 at the time and confirmed that it wasn’tLots of rumours, and links were posted the other day, where it said Pep’s new contract was a 1+1 rather than a strictly 2 year deal, consequently it may well be the case that he’s not breaking his contract by leaving this summer, we can’t be sure.
Edit to add
Pep Guardiola signed a two-year contract extension with Manchester City in November 2024, keeping him at the club until the summer of 2027. While there was initial speculation, it was confirmed as a straight two-year deal rather than a \(1+1\) structure. This takes his total tenure at City to over a decade. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
- Contract Duration: The deal runs until June 2027, preventing him from leaving in summer 2025 as initially expected.
- No Break Clause: Reports suggest there is no break clause or 1+1 option in the contract.
- Reasoning: The decision was driven by loyalty and a desire to turn around the team's form following a difficult period of losses in late 2024.
