PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

It feels quite surreal that at some point in the future, maybe even imminently, the verdict from the IC is going to drop on us. It’s been so long that it’s almost like it no longer exists, and yet, it does and whichever way it goes the fallout is going to be unprecedented. If we are given some indication of when it’s coming I shall walk the dog up to Gin Pit, sit on the wall and wait for my phone to explode. It worked for the CAS verdict and so I shall keep the faith and take plenty of dog treats!

Imagine back in Nov 24 when the hearing finished someone had told us that in May/Jun 2026 we still wouldn't know. We've had to endure this shit for nearly three and a half years now in total.

I pretty much don't interact with anyone about football who i don't know now, as when i do, it usually just ends up with petty comments by opposition fans about cheating and 115. The media is a shit show and click bait heaven for the 115 brigade. Its completely transformed how i engage with football these last 3 years and if i'm honest its drained a lot of the enjoyment of what being a City fan was like before this.

On the pitch and in the stadium as good as always, off it i can just leave football well alone and that used to be never what i was like. I was a proud City fan who loved nothing more than sitting in a bar on holiday somewhere drink a pint, watching a game and having a laugh about football with random fans. That's totally gone and for me and completely down to 115 and how the PL and media have driven it.

Thank fuck for BM and the insights on here into how the charges actually stacked up as the media, PL and opposition fans would happily see City wiped from the face of the earth.
Excellent post and it accurately describes the pain already suffered regardless of the outcome of the process. It seems intentional and carefully planned. I would say there are other reasons, that I like you, have drifted away from the game but it certainly is a major one. The thought of heading into another season with this thing hanging over us is almost unbearable. Enough is enough.

They're in breach of their own rule, which requires a published outcome at the end of, or as soon as practicably possible after, a hearing. It's now 18 months, which is decidedly not "as soon as practicably possible".
Who decides what is or isn't that?

Not sarky btw, I obviously agree 18 months is a pisstake, but is there anyone relevant that had any actual say that would affect that?

Perhaps we should seek arbitration over whether the case should now be thrown out on this basis.

Suppose you have to do something to mark the end of the season when you’ve won absolutely fuck all.
Woah, won fuck all ?
How about the most assists ever in Premier League history ? (Even if its a nil nil draw they will, without a doubt find a way)
How about Manager of the (half) season ?

Won fuck all! If only we'd won as much.

As a thought has anyone worked out what the likely financial benefit to City of all these charges is likely to be compared to obvious and admitted illegal payments made by Chelsea? I would have thought that the Mancini and Yaya amounts were pretty small compared to some of their off the books payments and even the Etihad payment methodology would be less than some of the 'unlawful' shareholder loans that other clubs have used.

Is this not something to which a statue of limitations could/should apply. It's a bit convenient to have such a restriction on start a process but nothing at the end.... Still that's what we call justice.

Isn't the end of a hearing when the verdict is released?

If the verdict is suddenly announced in the next view days then it’s obvious they have known for awhile to me.

when's Khaldoon's the end of season review anyone tracking Chris Bailey ;)
I can tell you what's in it now. Acknowledge team rebuild / Jan signings / progression of youth players. Womens team silverware, cup double, and congrats to Tarquins / Lego head.
