Missing on Neves hurts more when our Portugese contingent knew and insisted on Neves.
Not to be hyperbolic - missing out on Neves is like missing out on Bernardo Silva 9 years back. Everything Neves does Reminds me of our midfield in all these Pep years.
Hopefully Anderson is done quickly.

And I will still beg city to throw 120-130 million at PSG to see if they reply.

These we should have what ifs!? Are a waste of space it’s the past been and gone! Look forward look who we should buy NOW!

Have to remember Benfica wanted insane money bearing in mind he was very young and inexperienced. Obviously has become incredible but City would never spend 100m on a 18/19 year old. Teams all walked away apart from Paris and they got it done cheaper with add ons and a player going the other way. PSG were always there, think I remember them having a bid turned down in January beforehand as well.

He's the best midfielder in the world in my opinion and the closest Bernardo replacement there is. Technical abilty and tenacity is sensational. I'd break the bank to bring him here if it were in any way a possibility, world record fee for a midfielder levels. I don't think it is though, got no reason to leave PSG when they're on the brink of back to back CL titles and PSG have zero reason to sell.
Agreed.

$60m wasnt insane when you compare it to the £100m they sold Enzo for.

I mean they wanted 120 which was his release.

Because everyone left the table Paris got it done for 60 which was more fair. If we got told 60 im sure we would have held more interest.

I'm not sure that's true mate. Bernardo has literally said we didn't even bother. I doubt we enquired.

Yes I remember Benfica asking the absurd 120 milion fee but I always thought that just what they quote initially. I was heartbroken when PSG priced him away with only 60-70 million. Knowing how well we are run and how much portuguese contingent we have along with our resident agent Jorge Mendes we may have converted the deal. PSG team building has been impressive since Mbappe left.

Signing an unknown defender like William Pacho from Frankfurt for 30 million which may lead to back to back trebles is inspired as well. We used to do that until we want all "home grown" and "PL experience" talent

At some point he needs to come to the Premier League so hopefully Hugo is in his ear about joining us.

But its widely reported that when teams started asking they wanted 120m. Thats what im trying to say, everyone got quoted 120m including Paris at least twice as they asked about in in the January and then the following summer. Just somewhere along the lines that stance changed, probably when Benfica realised they couldn't get 120m/start a bidding war and the player wanted to go. They still obviously got a lot but Benfica were very strong with 120m or nothing for a long time. I imagine that put teams off.

Paris were all over him, wanted him the Jan before.

Looking at some of the PSG signings now its almost reminiscent of our signings in that created that 3-4 year window we dominated.

They picked up Doue after a great season at Rennes, same with Barcola & Lyon. Like you say we used to, I still think Guehi and Semenyo is smart business as would be Anderson - no top quality CM is cheap these days.

We took our eye off the ball, complacency perhaps, but then as a club we had never been in that situation before.

If PSG win back-to-back Champions Leagues, finalist in the Club World Cup last summer as well, they will feel vindicated in their signing policy. Lose on Saturday, however, and it could be that the extra brawn makes the difference and that Ligue 1 can only prepare you so far.

To be honest these are just the ones they're talking about. Bernardo and Dias might have suggested Renato Sanches to us in 2018 and if we'd gone ahead with that it would have been a disaster.

I don't doubt you, but the media saying it's £120m is nothing to do with what teams have been quoted. Especially when he goes for €60m
