De Bruyne?

Wolfsburg's chairman Francisco Javier Garcia Sanz has warned Europe's top clubs - including City - that they can look, but not touch the 23-year-old, or any of his successful side for that matter.

"We want to confirm our success this season in the future and, for that, we are keeping this team together," he told Sport Bild magazine.

Man City transfers: Blues told they face a fight for Kevin de Bruyne

Manchester city target Kevin de Bruyne was the star of the German Cup final for Wolfsburg - and they want to keep hold of him.

Manchester Cityhave been told they face a fight to prise Kevin de Bruyne away from German club Wolsburg.

The Blues have been heavily linked with a summer move for the former Chelsea man.

But the DFB-Pokal winners have insisted their coveted winger De Bruyne is going nowhere this summer.

The Belgian was inspirational in the Wolves' 3-1 win over Borussia Dortmund in the German cup final on Saturday, having broken a league record for the number of assists - 21 - this term.

In addition, he scored 10 league goals to help Wolfsburg finish second behind Bayern Munich and the attention the former Chelsea man is attracting is only natural.

However, Wolfsburg's chairman Francisco Javier Garcia Sanz has warned Europe's top clubs - including City - that they can look, but not touch the 23-year-old, or any of his successful side for that matter.

"We want to confirm our success this season in the future and, for that, we are keeping this team together," he told Sport Bild magazine.

De Bruyne, who has four years remaining on his contract, and Wolfsburg can look forward to Champions League football next season.

De Bruyne, meanwhile, believes he is in the form of his life.

"Maybe I'm playing the best football of my career right now," De Bruyne said.

"I had some good years in Belgium and with Bremen, but now I'm playing at a top club in one of the best leagues in the world and it all has an even greater meaning."

Bayern have been linked with a 60-million euro bid for De Bruyne, who also has reported admirers in the Premier League despite being unable to make the grade under Jose Mourinho at Chelsea.

They have form. The last few summers have seen us linked with players who were said to be "in the bag" yet the windows turned out to be a sad let down. It's about time we turned back the clock and really got back to the days when we were signing players of the quality of Aguero and Yaya instead of the benchwarmers that we actually ended up with.
Realistically if someone had suggested -

We'd fail to mount a title challenge
Get knocked out of the cups by weaker teams
Fail to improve in Europe
We'd drop our under performing captain
A large majority of the fan base would want Yaya gone

.. they'd have been labelled a hysterical flapper.

Did anyone expect someone associated with Wolfsburg to say anything different?

They have a highly rated player in the form of his life and will rightly be looking to maximise his value.

However, Wolfsburg and KDB both know that they cannot match his ambitions. They are not going to compete with Bayern and the best they can hope for is to finish above the likes of Dortmund and Levekusen.

Sooner rather than later he will leave. It's just a matter of Wolfsburg getting the best deal possible.

I was saying Yaya should go long before most and the team could not afford to carry him last season ..... I thought we were building a culture at the club? With players of the attitude of Yaya and Nasri staying and a player like Milner seemingly wanting to leave I'm not sure what kind of culture we're building??? We've world class players that show a 1st class attitude like Kun, Silva, Fernadinho, Zab, Vinnie, (admit Vinnie had a dip in form last season) supported by many others with excellent attitudes: Milner, Clichy, Kolarov, DM, Navas and yet Toure leads the team out in Vinnie's absence which is something of a disgrace .... I don't know why we need to tolerate prima donnas like Yaya and Nasri .... WORSE STILL IT LOOKS LIKE TOURE HAS HAD HIS EGO MASSAGED AND WILL BE STAYING. I DON'T DOUBT AS AN ATTACKING FORCE YAYA HAS BEEN IN THE PAST ONE OF THE MOST EFFECTIVE IN THE WORLD AT HIS BEST ... BUT HE'S IN DECLINE, HE CAN'T DEFEND IN OPEN PLAY OR FROM SET PIECES, HE DOESN'T MAKE MUCH OF AN EFFORT TO GET BACK WHEN WE LOSE POSSESSION AND THAT WAS BEFORE HIS LEGS STARTED TO GO, HE LIKES SITTING DOWN FOR 'A BIT' WHEN HE GETS TACKLED (USUALLY MOAINING), HE TALKS SHITE OFF THE PITCH AND HIS AGENT IS A DICKHEAD TOO, BOTH HAVE DISRESPECTED THE CLUB, THE FANS AND THE PLAYERS, HIS AGENT SINGLED OUT PELLEGRINI FOR BEING 'WEAK' AND TBH I AGREE WITH HIM .... I FEAR THIS LATEST DEVELOPMENT OF HIM STAYING COULD SEE US FURTHER DECLINING NEXT SEASON AND PELLGRINI HAS GIVEN NO INCLINATION THAT HE WILL PLAY YAYA BEHIND KUN IN A NO.10 ROLE WHERE HE WOULDN'T HAVE THE DEFENSIVE RESPONSIBILITIES THAT HE CAN'T DO ANYWAY AND WOULD BE MOST EFFECTIVE SURELY? ..... I SEE A LOT OF MISTAKES BEING MADE AND FEAR WE COULD DROP OUT OF TOP 4 IN PL WHICH WOULD BE A DISASTER ..... SOME TOP CLASS PLAYERS BETTER BE COMING IN THIS SEASON OR ELSE WE'RE F*CKED

I'm with you. Isco is a cracking footballer. I would love to see him play for us.

Excellent attitude too, would work hard for the team ..... Looks like Yaya has had his ego massaged and we could be stuck with the lazy f*cker so we need as many hard working top footballers as we can get to compensate for him

Now that KDB is looking unlikelyand imho, we need to be as far away as possible from RM because they obviously want our star man, where do we turn to? I guess Firmino and Sterling are the only attacking options now except of course there is a change of heart in the VW chiefs. If we end up with Sterling and Firmino and the chavs have hazard and Griezman, there obviously is trouble.

Nah we have a good relationship with Madrid and it won't really be an argument. Firmino is an additional signing to the like of pogba, Isco/kdb and Sterling. Will see atleast 3-4 signing.

yeah am sure Madrid are gonna rock the boat just as our owner gives them £350m to re-do the bernabaue development!

Was there news somewhere that this payment was given on condition of staying clear of MCFC in the transfer market?

Come on, are they really going to announce to the world that they can't buy any City players because of this deal...

All I know is that Mansour has a good relationship with PereZ... Donno who they deal with each other but we could perhaps use that relationship to get Isco now?

Nope...there was'nt any news regarding conditions of steering clear of MCFC...but there was quotes from perez declaring abu dhabi to be thier partners for the considerable future....whatever that may mean.
