De Bruyne?

Well you`re certainly living up to your name. ;)
I know. Can't help it. Must be my medication!
But really, I'm just trying to be realistic about it. There's a lot to look into about transfers and any idea that someone high up in our boardroom decided a player was what we needed and to put in a sizeable bid, as we would be expected to do, then a 'selling club' is going to hang on for something better. Throw in the agents and where a player actually wants to go to, especially if trophies are of utmost importance to him, and it can throw a whole new light on a move. If it's down to money and nothing else, he would already be here, but his ambitions are the real deal we have to impress him with and any player we now go for should have these ideals, or else they will never be of the greatest use to us. The type of player we now require are well beyond the Gerry Creaney's of this world, and a bid for a top player by us whereby the seller shows some sign of wavering will only go to invite a similar bid from those clubs we can now regard as direct rivals.

Just voted Bundesliga's best player of the year.

"If I leave, I have no preference where I go. In my head, it is 95 percent I won't go to Russia or Italy. It is not my style of play, but England, Spain, France or the Bundesliga, yes. They are the best leagues. They are some very good teams. That appeals to me."

it's sounds like a ''come and get me plea'' tbh and if this rumours of us ready to offer them 40M for him i think he will be one of the first signings of the summer

I do get the feeling with his responses relating to question asked to him about his future that he isn't 100% sure if he is going to be a Wolfsburg player next season.

Why say "If I leave" etc...

If I was a Wolfsburg fan I wouldn't be 100% convinced he is staying.

Verein für Leibesübungen Wolfsburg is the full name of the club, didn't know either but wikipedia sure comes in handy!
Cheers pal. I'm not that fussed if we miss out on him, don't particularly rate him as high as most do on here.

I think there is still a chance of getting him. I think the player himself is very interested in joining, but its all down to the club and whether they want to sell this season.

Agree! Another player who showed very little in England, but had a good season in a good league and becomes a £40M player!?! By this metric, Aguero is £120M player and Silva is £50M all day every day!

While I agree we need high quality YOUNG talent from wherever we can find it (even in our own backyard!), we have to stop paying over the odds for it. If players do not want to come to City to fight for the title and the CL every year, or other teams think we are still willing to pay over the odds, then we need to hope the Academy starts producing players very soon.

We need to start cultivating the Madrid/Barca model of adding one or two top quality players per year, without being bent over to do it, thus revitalizing the entire team every 5 years. That kind of continuity breeds healthy competition while also maintaining the stability of the squad over time.

I couldn't agree more. The problem is this should have been our strategy 4 years ago, now we need 5-6 players with enough quality at the right age.

I agree, we should have bought quality over quantity and we would not be in a position of needing at least 5 players to compete for the title against Chelsea.
