De Bruyne?

Each season leagues like La Liga and Bundesliga continue to prove those who claim it's a 1 or two team league wrong. La Liga could possibly see all 5 of their entrants in the group stages of champions league. La Liga are the champions of Europe with Barca winning CL and Sevilla winning Europa.

Bundesliga is so easy that a team like Dortmund battled relegation all season long to try to finish respectfully. Just bc Bayern are one of the best teams in the world don't make BuLi a one team league.

Chelsea ran away with the title this season just like Bayern and other one team league candidates Juve, you wouldn't call PL a one league team would you?

BuLi is probably one of the toughest leagues in Europe, ahead of the Pl Week in/out. There's no easy games, every team presses really high up the pitch for a full 90 minutes. So for KDB to manage 15 goals and record breaking 25 assists is pretty damn amazing considered the style of play in that league. More impressive than Depay's stats as most defenses in the Dutch League are sleep half the time.

Sterling and Navas have enough pace in the squad and pace isn't the end all be all in a winger. We now see Messi on the wing, he's not beating every man he sees with pace, rather skill and KDB does the same. You sort of need that balance of one with pace, the other who has has just enough pace to beat their man but doesn't rely on it just to beat their man. This is how RM gets exposed when they have Ronaldo and Bale flying and no use defensively.

Off the top of my head I can think of Neymar/Suarez/Messi and Depay/De Jong/Nasingh in a 4-3-3 that illustrates my point.

What we lack is more quality in our early crosses, KDB uses plenty of ways to get the ball inside the box vs Kola's low crosses or Navas who becomes way too predictable.

Bringing it both Sterling and KDB would improve much needed positions, take the burden of creation off of Navas' shoulders and give us plenty of options to score goals. Both also give us flexibility to switch positions if needed like Milner gave us. I don't see how anyone who's watched KDB can say he's overrated. Using Chelsea as an example isn't enough because if you read around, you'll see more and more that people are equating them losing him to Pogba leaving United.

Completely agree, Bundesliga cannot be disregarded anymore, as much as Bayern dominate the league, there are some good outfits in that league now. Borussia Mönchengladbach have looked a very impressive outfit over the years, Leverkusen play some nice football and same goes for Wolfsburg, a very organised outfit with some talented players as well. We all saw how close Schalke came to knocking out Madrid also, another side with good young players. For KDB to do what he did in Germany, is certainly no mean feat. He oozes class every time i watch him and i have seen him 5, 6 times this season. He has various attributes to his game which would ideally make him more adaptable to the premier league than most foreign players. He has that drive and energy to his game, the array of passing both short and long, dribbling ability, his shooting ability from the edge of the box, his crossing ability when he gets in the final third... he is a very combative midfielder who can not only be used on the wings, but can be used in central midfield and a CAM position. I think out of most targets we could acquire in Europe, he is one of the best players that we could snap up. People complaining about how we need pace... Kevin De Bruyne is certainly no slouch either. Top quality player IMO.

Utd have taken a complete gamble on Depay as he is yet to prove himself against better players, KDB would represent good value and much less of a risk than Depay as he has been hitting incredible figures statistically in a very good and competitive league.

Totally agree. 40m isn't that bad for 10 goals and 10-20ass a season really. With his contract "stalling" I'm pretty sure he would've signed it by now.

So obvious... So who would you rather have than him?
You forgot to prefix that with: I've never seen him play but....

I haven't in the flesh, but I've watched around 10 games and I'm staggered that people rate him on a par, or above Sterling. He isn't, we need to look at how he would fit in with a Pep style team, as that would appear to be the blue print. He doesn't.

If you compare KDB to silva, milner and nasri... kdb got 10 goals 20 ass plus in the league.... silva is closest on 12 goals 7 assists. this boy is lovely

Here is how Kevin de Bruyne compares to similar Manchester City players that were at the club last season #SSNHQ pic.twitter.com/y1KLeYnDmN

Stats mean next to nothing, particularly between leagues...your assists depends on if its Kun finishing the pass or Bobby bleedin Zamora?

Remember also that in Germany Kagawa and Papis Cisse shone ;) ......also the feeling on here was that Mata was shit because Moaner sold him....didn't take him long to ditch this guy either?

Not saying hes great or not, never noticed him enough to judge.......but there's more to buying a player than stats and youtube highlights.

I think our weakness is going forward. This season, we let in 1 more goal than last season. But we scored 19 less. Don't get me wrong, we need to improve defensively, but that's not really a personnel issue, it's an organisation issue. The way Pellegrini plays, it's important to get our goal count up. Replacing a decent player in Milner with one of the best creative players in Europe is a good start. Even on things like set pieces, having a front 3 of De Bruyne, Aguero and Sterling would make opposition teams afraid to over commit players forward.

Look at Barcelona this season. They didn't add anything to their first choice defensive options, and yet they ended up with a far more impressive defensive record this season compared to last, just because of the sheer control they have over the game with that front 3 and midfield.
I think we scored a lot less because we changed from 2 up front to 1 because Yaya Toure's lack of mobility compromised us in midfield and we had to play with an extra midfielder.

No it wasnt. I was gutted when the rags got Mata, and there were plenty that felt the same.

But in any case Mourinho also ditched Robben who turned out half decent.

I feel that this is drawing out time is working in our way. If he was staying id like to think he'd sign that deal already
