Im sure everyone's in agreement when I send this their way :)

I think Sterling is well within his rights to refuse to go on tour. The way Liverpool have whipped their fans into a frenzy(similar to Everton over Lescott) it would be no surprise if Sterling doesn't feel safe being near Liverpool's frenzied cultists.
It's certainly the angle I would use. Another thing, if any employer acted this way in the real world, leaking confidential talks and contract offers and using the media and former players to vilify a member of staff in public, they would be well within their rights to sue for constructive dismissal.
This isn't the real world though, it's football and more or less anything goes. Certain clubs will always behave and operate in a shoddy and unprofessional manner, and Liverpool have proved time and again exactly what sort of two bob, unprincipled shysters they are.

Spot on, the press have swallowed the Liverpool line on Sterling and whilst he and his agent are not totally innocent Liverpool have also behaved in an equally shabby way

I'm really impressed with Sterling's fortitude, and pretty sad to see the stupidity of some Liverpool fans who are so easily manipulated.

Surely they know their are agendas and the way facts are presented suits certain objectives.

Compare the conduct and behaviour of City fans and club towards James Milner with the treatment of Sterling by LFC and some of their support.

Well around midday yesterday we were told 2 in within 24 hours. I'll give it to the end of the day but I just can't see that.

Aside from Sterling being a twat to Liverpool (IMO) we don't yet appear much further ahead with our transfers than at the end of the season. Of course I'm sure we are, but as a fan I can only go off hard facts. There are none!

Been a very frustrating window, and I'm getting a feeling of shit or bust, either we pull off all our targets, or they nearly all fall through, with little in between. I would be surprised if Sterling doesn't come, but I have a feeling if Pogba doesn't happen then neither with De Bruyne, given the similarities in circumstances (player with no *real* motive to leave this summer, and us apparently unwilling to pay the premium necessary to incentivise them).

I'm still adhering to the belief that we will be ruthless this summer after the previous windows and simply do what we have to do to get our targets in, but with the pace with which things have moved so far it's looking like we will be getting much of our business done on the eve of the new season - not ideal. Come on city prove me wrong!

If we offer 50 million with the relationship so badly and publicly broken there, it will be madness. Offer 40m up front, no add ons, take it or leave it. Good luck to them if they want to turn it down. They won't get that amount elsewhere and I can't see him being much use to them after the way they have hung him out to dry.
Sterling is the best young player I know.

Aside from Sterling being a twat to Liverpool
Yeah, how dare a player try to force a move away from a club that has constantly leaked confidential contract talks to the media and used it's 2,000,000 former players in the media to vilify and attack him and whose own fans have booed him at an award ceremony. What a grade A twat!!!11

Its the 8th of July mate.

I'm referring to his 'threat' last night, saying you'll breach your contract is dodgy ground in my book

On ssn transfer centre:

Sterling indicated that it would be in everyone's best interests if he did not join liverpools tour to Australia and the Far East on Sunday.

His fear is that the presence on the tour would take the focus off the manager and the new players, believing that it would be better if he stayed at melwood and continues to train.

Liverpool have declined to comment on the story.

Sky sources understand that Raheem Sterling wants to leave Liverpool because he does not want to play for manager Brendan Rodgers.

The 20-year-old returned to training at Melwood on Tuesday where he attended a 25-minute meeting with the Reds boss.

It is understood Rodgers reiterated his desire for the England international to stay at the club, claiming that if Sterling wanted more money, then he was confident that a deal could be reached between the player and the Liverpool hierarchy.
However, it is believed Sterling countered that by telling Rodgers that his concerns were not over money or the club itself, but rather that he did not want to play for the manager.

The Liverpool squad are due to travel to Australia and the Far East on Sunday to begin pre-season training but Sky sources understand Sterling indicated it would be in everyone's best interests if he did not join that tour.

Manchester City have had two bids for Sterling rejected and Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher has said that the forward could be risking his reputation by refusing to go on the tour.

Excellent news for us

That's not really the point.
Maybe. I don't undertand LFC's tactics. Seem to be driving the player from thir club, and maybe there is scope to beat the fee down as it's obvious his presence next season is going to be problematic and sow division the first time things go wrong.

But as a fan, I'd like this deal wrapped up. I also feel sorry that Sterling has to put up with his integrity being continually questioned.

I was disinctly unimpressed when Liverpool signed Balotelli and Rodgers came out with all that nonsense about how he would behave differently because Liverpool were different. But the situation applies in reverse. If Sterling behaves badly at Liverpool (and refusing to go on tour when he is paid to do so is behaving badly no matter how you dress it up), he will behave badly at City.

We suffered last season (and 12/13) because some of our players tended to go missing in action. I was under the impression that one of the objectives of our summer recruitment would be to replace players like Nasri (very talented but but unreliable) with players with a better attitude. I dont think Sterling is the type of player we need.

Our season finished 6 weeks ago. Players have gone on holiday and come back and still nothing

Unal signed.

Vast majority of the squad not back yet for various reasons.

Transfer window open until the end of August having OFFICIALLY opened just 7 days ago.

Sterling has asked to be left out of the tour and asked for a move. he has not broken any contractual obligations and he certainly hasn't refused to go on tour.

Indeed, and I think we need to up our bid and not take the piss. But his position there is totally and utterly untenable beyond any doubt and everyone knows it so I'd be disappointed if we go anywhere near their 50 million pounds. As you say, Liverpool have behaved in a very odd way in terms of trying to negotiate a better price. They're fucking idiots.

Reckon he'll wait to see Liverpool response and put transfer request in if necessary.
