I'm talking in regard of FSG,not a country winning the natural resources lottery.

FSG Sold 2 assets for max prices and got 125 million for 2 players, and they will do the same with sterling.

I just don't see FSG panicking and selling an asset cheaply because of some deadline, they either sell him now,if not sell him in 6 months or next summer and hope the London teams get involved and a bidding war happens.
You may have a point about Abu Dhabi's natural wealth, but last Summer's transfer window was a disaster for Liverpool.

I don't think I can remember a football club ever mis-handling a player as badly as LFC have done Sterling. They have practically driven him into the arms of MCFC with the result that a player who was the jewel of LFC 12 months ago and unsellable is now a player that they have to sell, and something which City are now exploiting

Asset stripped?

They are financing the stadium to 60K with the main stand halfway done,Got a kit deal doubled per annum and grown commercial activities by almost 90 million pounds this last season.

If anything it looks like they're building their asset up not having it depreciate in value.

The did the same in Boston with the Redsox and Fenway park, growing financially to compete and overhauling the stadium

How come you never built a new stadium in the park? Or elsewhere?

Every day a signing isn't available for preseason isn't good. A full preseason can be the difference between a great first season and a less than great first season. And to have them for Australia would have helped a lot.

I don't think it's a huge issue yet. Half the squad is still on holidays, so I don't think we're missing much. Having them on the tour would be good and that still may happen. Either case, you can't force a club to sell to suit your pre season plans, and innthe long run we want these for 5-10 pre seasons, not just the one.

Turning down £40m for a player who could buy out his contract in a year's time is hardly business savvy is it? Not to mention the negative impact keeping Sterling could have on their season.

You do realise, my little scouse bellend intruder, that a certain Mr. Mansour made more money on a Barclays share-buying and selling scheme, in 18 months, than he has spent on us in the whole seven years, right?

Didn't think so.

If Sterling stays another season, he'll be able to buy out his contract for UNDER £2m, yep, that's right.

I may buy shares in candle companies if that happens.

Sure, they'll also sell Mario for a massive profit. :-) A bad situation is a bad situation, all you can do is mitigate the damage. If they really had great buisness acumen, Liverpool would be a top 4 club instead of a middling sports outfit full of loudmouths and blowhards. And Sterling would not want to leave.

Judging by the first line of your reply, I imagine you don't remember HRH Sheikh Mansour making £2.25 billion from Barclays shares.

Sterling's contract has two years to run. If you don't sell him this Summer, his transfer value will decline rapidly, just as Gareth Barry's did when he entered the final year of his at Villa. Do you remember him?

FSG might be full of people with great business acumen, but even they can't stop a player's contract running down.

Not a dig mate, but let's say a player agrees to everything and all is sweet.....then at the very last minute the player changes his mind...what can txiki do about that?
Ask peter Kenyon when he was at Chelsea regarding Gerrard.

I would say his agent was the one who did most the mishandling.

Look at what all 3 of his clients have done.

Odemwingie QPR fiasco,Berahino Interview and angling for a move and now Sterling the last 6 months.

You will have a cracking player but he has a tit for a agent and this won't be good reading for him in the morning. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...Ward-West-Brom-star-becoms-disillusioned.html

I think my only issue is....we play hardball with teams and wont pay the asking price for a player we really need but then on the other hand, we are willing to sell a player like Jovetic for a cut down price of 12mil (if rumours are correct).....surely, this is as bad or worse than paying a teams valuation of a player that could help us for the next 10 years?....just my opinion but think its fair to ask the question....

Jovetic's value has decreased because he's been a flop with us and his injury record is appalling. We'll never get more than £15m back for him.
