I think it's more down to money. Do you honestly think if they'd got rid of Brenda he'd have excepted his new contract?

The problem is these players believing their own hype.

Exactly...... money does come into it no doubt about it and Rodgers is the scapegoat for the agent and player but we don't really know what goes on behind the scenes so we cannot comment too much on fallings out etc

Yes definitely who knows what's actually gone on. What concerns me is the lack of respect for the club. What's to say he won't do the same with us. Yes he'll get a pay rise when happens next year if he decides he wants more.

My gut feeling is this will be more trouble than its worth.

Look at Aguero, polar opposite. One of the best players in the world, good bloke and no dramas.
Or maybe he got pissed of with the way the club treats its players and wanted out.

Don't forget they scammed Suarez out of a buy out clause last summer and then offered Sterling a contract with a lower wage than Henderson. I'd be pissed off as well.

Then Rodgers playing the whole saw out in public was the last straw.

Things have gone on for sure. Steve G's early exit is another imo. Who knows. Don't get me wrong I'd love to be proven wrong.

It's all a bit vulgar isn't it LFCJORDY92?

Its all being handled very bad from day one.... Sterling doing the interview without the club knowing. Once this happened this should have been done and dusted. We all know he didn't want to be a Liverpool but they are holding out for the best price due to the big rise of the 2nd bid which tbh i would have taken and so would 'other' LFC fans..... However you do get fans which are laughable saying lets get 120m?! Thats just pathetic and obviously don't know the game or football business very well. One thing the club are trying to do is build for the future bringing youth through and giving them the opportunity but you will get 1 in every 5/6 that will want to leave and move on for a new challenge.

when you have most Liverpool fans and all ex players slagging him of in the media you can understand why he's done what he has! if I was sterling I would of played it like Milner as in lie your way to the end of a contract all the time City believing him!

I doubt that very much.

Look how desperate he is to join us, surely he will give everything when he plays for us. You've got to think that he wants to win trophies in his career. He can win everything with us - he can't with Liverpool.

It's not a bad deal for them either, if they get £40m for him it's worth all this drama IMO.

If he did it like Milner I'd have more respect. He grafted every single match he played. Perhaps he's showing his age?

Why should he show any respect to that club? Have you seen how they, their ex players and fans have acted? Don't tell me if your employer was treating you like dirt you'd show them respect. I think Sterling has handled things with maturity when others his age would be spitting their dummy out.

All players are motivated by money so of course that plays a role but he's also seen Liverpool go from the CL and having Suarez to mid table and signing Ings so i don't blame him jumping ship.

You simply cannot compare the Milner and Sterling situation.

We knew Milner wasn't staying and kept it in house.

Liverpool have tried every trick in the book to bully Sterling into signing and have slated him in the press.

I think you'll find Milner was a mercenary for the way he went about his move, mate.
Unless Milner has done something I'm unaware of what was so bad not expecting a new contract and playing well until the existing one ran out? That's for another topic though I guess.

I guess if we compare the situation with the tevez on where he refused to play I was livid. By the end I was sad he left. If sterling plays well for us I'll happily change my mind.

Aguero no drama?

He did put this statement on his website saying he wanted to leave A.Madrid

http://www.espnfc.co.uk/story/922916/sergio-aguero-asks-to-leave-atletico-madrid

And he also gave an interview where he stated he would not return to Spain after the Summer window in order to force through a move.

He's been the model pro for City though, which is exactly what Sterling will be.

Great example! My atleti friends hate him. We love him. I imagine that's how it will be with sterling lightacandlepool and us

yep can't argue about his commitment bottom line though he lead city up the garden path unlike sterling who telling it how it is..

I am guessing we have offered the top amount we are willing to pay. If Liverpool do not accept it we are correct to walk away. I would add, before walking, that he is worth X amount to us now, but for every week of pre-season that he misses, his value to us decreases by 500k.
I do not want to see Liverpool gain any sort of moral victory from this saga. We should put our position out there in the press and not budge a single inch.
If there were more capable home-grown players , I'm sure we'd of walked much sooner.

I can't wait for the interview when we sign him. There's no way he's going to keep his mouth shut about the way Liverpool have treated him. The club will try and gag him but he will get his digs in subtly. Things like "It's great to work under a coach who is so calm and professional" or "I've only been here a couple of weeks and I've learned so much" or even "Pellers is such a great manager, he really knows how to talk to you and I know exactly what is expected of me"
Just little things and no direct digs at Brendan or Liverpool, but enough to get the scouse mouth breathers raging. I'm almost looking forward to their reaction as much as I'm looking forward to seeing him play.
