Because of today's events I decided to watch Villa's pre season game against Fulham in Portugal. There team is really really bad.

Unlike many teams across Europe, Villa played almost the entire starting XI. Benteke was on the bench and not used and of course Delph stayed back.

Micah Richards is playing CB in their side.

I'm not even sure sticking with this team is good for Delph's chances with England. They looked easily like relegation candidates again today and should be early favorites . I know it's just a pre season game but it was against a lower division side who looked better the entire game. Micah Richards still looks past it and he fell asleep in Villa's first goal given up, complaining to the ref and Villa go on to lose 3-1.

If another English player who hasn't been used yet performs half decent for a better side should easily take Delph's place if this is what he's running back to work with.

You're going to love this one.
Apparently Delph failed the City Medical - well thats the story I was told half an hour ago in my local here in the West Mids.
I await my neighbour's inside knowledge on all things Villa tomorrow...

Hmm, well let's put it this way, I wonder how many of the Sunday first editions are going to run with that line ? ;-)

That is true unlikely, but sometimes it feels like as the team and club has improved some of our fans have not. Flappy whiny, entitled, impatient, ungrateful, and repetitive. Perhaps it's the success or maybe just the transfer window, or maybe I am getting older.

I bit of it all, i think. A lot of the threads in here are like groundhog day.
I have to keep checking post times, to make sure i'm on right day.

Apologies whether this has been covered, I'm am seriously disappointed this hasn't gone through, though to clarify not so much that we didn't get this player, more so the case that perhaps the drip drip negativity in the media about England players & City got to him. The club need to do something about this and soon, the indisputable fact is that if Delph had been linked with ManU Liverpool or probably even Arsenal the press would have been encouraging the deal, wheeling out the same ex players now pundits about how it would be a great move for everybody. This is what has seriously pissed me off.

I doubt that many players would be heavily influenced by the media when it comes to making major career decisions.

He realised he wasn't going to get adequate game-time which would threaten his status as a rising star on the England international scene. That's clearly his priority and his perogitive. My respect for him has gone up as a result and I hope he does well with Villa and England. Meanwhile we move on.
