Media bias against City

I was brought up to believe that having character wasnt nobbing your brothers missus, nobbing your babies nanny, shagging granny prostitutes or prostitutes in general, taking drug tests as scheduled, not jumping feet first into a crowd, the list goes on and fucking on.

Might have to revisit my whole belief system.

Suppose this one is for the agenda thread, but I can only assume its some kind of elaborate pisstake?

Got to be a piss take.

How can a story about what a journalist thinks what the GPC thinks without actually asking him be anything but.
Would Fergie have bought Raheem Sterling?

My suspicion is that he would not. Certainly not for £49million. Maybe not for 49 pence.
But then again it's the Daily Mail so they're probably serious.

Just googled the journo Jeff Powell. He's been at the Mail since 1966 and it wasn't his first job. Seems senile dementia is kicking in.

Strangely, no mention in that article of the series of somewhat.....errr.....curious signings leading up to Taggart's putative retirement in 2002.

Again I am going to ask the question WTF is our PR Dept. doing, when is fanciful shite journalism like this going to be challenged, not only challenged but the journo who writes shite like this is made to be known to his/her face that it is unacceptable and they are not welcome anywhere within City's environs, get off your fat arses and put the coffee and donuts down

An article like that is so ludicrous it's best ignored. I agree the PR dept should do something to counter the more plausible lies.

I think our PR department are doing a decent job.

The club as a whole has stopped any leaks to the press and, when we sign a new player for example, the only factual content the media can get is from our own internal channels.

It's a bit fanciful to think that they can do anything about opinion based articles like this.

The club is staying above the bully boy tactics that Fergie took with journalists and in the long run it'll pay off.

Funnily enough I was once introduced to Jeff Powell at Soccerex by Mike Summerbee and Denis Law. He came across as a decent chap but obviously knows how to write an article for clicks.

united`s PR department flood the media with so many positive stories leaving room for only serious negative stories eg, giggs knocking the back of hid sister in law.

allegedly

With no football to report surely this is the 'no news' time of the year for football journo's.

Assessing the mental age of your main ;customers' then writing biased articles with poetic licence regarding truth is something they can and often do get away with.
We should prepare ourselves for the calm matter of fact way that a probable £32.5m fee is met by LFC for Mr Benteke.

Never mind, the real click bait will happen shortly when MUFC win some friendly games and they are heralded as world beaters.

Agree Salford, kind of admire with gritted teeth the approach United media use.

They appear to supply endless stories and good ones too to the hacks. They may even rub some click figures and comments by their own to make their stories appear more popular than what they are.
All allegedly of course.

But, people click on what's in front of them and if we reserve ourselves to the opinion seat articles with little influence then the bias will most likely continue.

Naively I thought that once City had won a trophy and established ourselves as a top 4 club the media profile would improve.

Some of the ridicule has stopped, i.e. when we are linked to top players, there's no longer the same guffaws, but the hostility is there. The reason has got nothing to do with City, and everything to do with the sense of panic in clubs like Liverpool and Man Utd and the media play on that.

Give it 5 more years, but it doesn't bother me so much now. The papers are losing business and influence as the media changes. If you follow football now, the way you do it has changed. It's no longer the Pink at 6pm after the game, it's go to the game, then talk about it online, you don't wait for what Peter Gardner and David Lacey think. And you can talk back. Technology is marginalising our critics and their bias just accelerates their demise.

If you want to see how it should be done, watch Man Utd's Fulltimedevils or ArsenalFanTV. They had a guy called Clyde who was just compulsive viewing. Fans are much more knowledgeable than they are give credit for by "professionals."

our club simply couldn't care less about the media, gary cook brought the philosophy in when he realised the media was of no benefit financially to the club. this is why we don't have endless stories about our players on tour and how our new star play has used a training bike. city just keeps them all at arms length and gets on with it. case in point being sterling all the news was generated by the grievers not a word from city.

personally prefer it that way the constent laughable stories from manu on tour are hilarious I'm sure you have all seen todays big news that they use exercise bikes.

with due respect the club have already got your support, they dont have to impress you with tomorrows chip paper. its the first time fans we need to get to enable us to move into bigger commercial revenue streams, which helps us buy players.

You are the media. I never ever buy a tabloid and read their back page. The news is well out of date
If I want opinion. Go online. And you can have your own as well.
