De Bruyne?

The chances of De Bruyne wearing Blue

Epic.

Why do we have to sell Dzeko before putting a bid in for De Bruyne?

We probably wanted to confirm incoming cash to evaluate where we are with our expenditure, but also because Dzeko takes up a place in our squad that we'd need for De Bruyne.

The Times or Mirror?....seems both reporting something different...is the Times a better source? It would make more sense, as Wolfsburg have made it clear its going to take a 50mil or no deal type of offer......fingers crossed something happens now Dzeko gone...

You really do have to laugh at the journos for the papers, as if they know the bottom lines for each club in the deal if one is to be done. First rule of negotiating any deal is never disclose your bottom line. Using their figures the sensible and most logical outcome is 44m. :-)

I remember the Chelsea v Hull game very well, KDB made a lasting impression on me from that match. He was fantastic, and also played either the match before or after to similar effect, and was possibly MOTM in that game too - and in both he was played centrally.

A lot of people have been talking about his inability to tackle, but I don't see that as too much of a problem. Firstly, he'll learn, and closing down players and blocking their pass lanes and intercepting is more effective than tackling anyway, unless a last ditch tackle is needed, or a crucial tackle on a playmaker, in which case it won't be up to him. Secondly, I remember a little ginger wizard over the road who didn't do too badly despite his inability to tackle.

Although, in saying that, the thought of playing a three man midfield including KDB and Yaya does worry me.

Agree with the last bit, KDB and Yaya wouldn't cut the mustard in a 3 man midfield. We still need another midfield player who adds steel to the middle.

agreed. If we was to have a midfield 3 including KDB and yaya we should be looking to bring in pogba or if not poss someone like veratti, gundogan or one of the bender brothers

Yes yes, if we signed Messi, we'd still need Pogba, Neuer and Neymar. 30 years of this subterfuge has led to high levels of immunity

What do we need Neuer for? If we want Messi and Aguero to feel really confident after training we've already got Caballero and Wright there.

I think it depends on Yaya. As I see it his problem is not defending, he was a great defensive midfielder, and a very good CB at times for Barca too - his problem is going forwards, and then getting back in time. Last year, when our attacks became pedestrian we all looked to Yaya to provide the spark, and when he got forward, he was not able to get back in time.

I see the club making attacking purchases as a sign that Yaya will be much more conservative in attack. We're taking the burden of attack away from him, and that means he'll be staying in position beside Fernandinho, ready to do his defensive work when called upon. With a front 4 of De Bruyne, Silva, Sterling and Aguero, we don't need his extra contributions in the attacking third anyway. He can sit back, control the tempo of the game in what I suppose people would call the "pirlo" role these days.

I also think he'll play a lot less. He's too old to be playing the sheer amount of minutes he has done recently. He's 32, lets treat him like it. Some people on here are acting like he's undroppable and will play 90 minutes for 60 games this season.

I'd be much happier with DeBruyne rather than Pogba. Both would be great but DeBruyne is exactly what we need in attack IMO. Someone to knit everything together more effectively. I suspect he and Silva and Yaya will link very well and set up Sterling and Aguero to reap all the praise. Behind the scenes though will be a team of passing masters.

I hope some questions are asked to pellegrini as regards to transfers tonight at City live.

I'd like to think he would be more open as it's not a media spunkfest, need to crank up that feel good factor going into a new season with 7,500 more seats to fill .

That would be a bit of a waste of time. You should ask Soriano about the catering arrangements instead, or ask Txiki if we're putting any extra parking in.
