Media bias against City

make sure you don't look at today's back page of The Sun, it mentions £58m for Martial so won't fit in well with yesterdays agenda rantings, keep it Merson based for now guys
Any other papers or news outlets quoting the full fee or just the Sun?

They had it at £36 million the day before, even though everybody knew what the real price was. The only reason they're reporting it as £58 million now is becuase of the abuse sky have been getting.

And the player himself has mentioned the fee in public.

It's working folks, keep at it. Don't let the bastards get away with anything.

Positive article in The Independent from Ian Herbert on our transfer template. Makes a good read.
Sorry but don't know how to link it!

My point exactly. Does anyone else think that if us blues were not shaming these b*stards into correcting these glaring anomalies that anything would change ? Witout exception the majority of media outlets were quoting the lower figure now all of a sudden we see them quoting the figure accurately or at least inline with how they presented our transfer fees.

Some may have got so used to doing the Ferguson shuffle for years, without thinking, that they don't even consider what they are doing beforehand, just do it automatically.

I don't actually want them to kiss our arses all the time like they have over the years with Utd, Liverpool etc. Just be fair & honest give credit/criticism to City where it's due rather than acting as a propaganda tool for others.

am I reading this right, The Sun and Sky are being influenced by a few rabid City supporters? This is the organisation owned by Rupert Murdoch? Who has just re-employed Rebecca Brooks! Crikey.

I have to say I'm particularly fond of how some in the press ignore the way United's net spend is lowered through the brilliance of flogging off a fine player at a big loss

The individuals who write this shit, are being pulled up on it. If they think they can lie through their teeth & get pats on the back for it, they can continue without a conscience, but if they know that a certain percentage of us are watching & calling them out on it, then it is bound to make them think. And no matter how much they defend their opinions, if they write something dishonest, at least they know, that we know, what they are doing.

That will make anyone with any shred of decency, have a slight doubt about what they are doing, even if they don't admit it.

are you saying the soar away sun and sky have decency ? :)

Tbh, joking aside, I think some of the people there have not even one iota of it, some who appear on Sunday Supplement are clearly like that too, but some will have a bit of pride in their profession, & those are the ones who will have pangs of guilt when they lower themselves to suck the Devil's dick & know we can see them doing it.

It won't matter to Stan Collymore for instance.

You can't ask for more than that.

Whilst over at the swamp, the knuckle dragging Salford's have reverted to type, they now all reckon we're trying to 'buy the league' again and that OUR reckless spending is ruining football............ Again! Well if that's the case, long may it continue!!

On another note, on Tuesday when news broke about Anthony whatisface having a medical, it was fuckin hilarious watching the Rags in my office pretending that they'd heard of him. One even accused me of making it up and to top it off one know it all claimed he'd known about Whatisface for ages, when I asked him where from I shit you not, he answered from FIFA and Football Manager!!! Bwhahahahahahahahaha

The media tide will turn Blues, just be patient, its already beginning to happen.

This topic highlights just how inaccurate and unreliable Media actually is... Not just in football but in all subjects of public interest.

I wouldn't believe in anything what the media say.

I tend to browse with multi-tabs on my web browser, so I can read "views" in the Gutterpress but also correlate them with somewhat more established facts with other sources.

The constant misquoting, hype, utter nonsense is counterproductive for their industry and they are only pushing themselves further down the gutter.... I feel sorry for the genuine journalists with talent who report accurately on facts....

There will always be something in your life that you have direct, first hand knowledge about, which the press will then report. Horribly badly.

And it's then you realise what rubbish the rest of it probably is too.

I notice after Ric called out Ian Herbert on Twitter yesterday, suddenly there is a positive article by Herbert about City's transfer policy. I am not saying the two are connected, but it's rare for Herbert to praise City.

I am choosing to believe that even a troglodyte like Herbert occasionally feels a pang of guilt. Of course it's well buried beneath the layers of entrenched bias, but you never know.

The more they are called out, the better for us.

just read Herberts article on the Independent website
and then laughed my arse off at the first comment from some rag nob called CHRISTOPHER ARNFIELD BA, BSC

At risk of sounding like e broken record, City are spending sovereign Abu Dhabi money not their own. United are spending their own money which they have earned.
The definition by which Lance Armstrong was condemned to the cheat of the century applies equally to Manchester City. Someone who uses an outside substance or means to improve their ability beyond its natural level. Armstrong used drugs, City use sovereign funds from Abu Dhabi. United and Arsenal both spent decades building up their clubs, whilst the likes of City had a series of incompetent managers and chairman/owners who spent their money unwisely. Leeds were the same but they have not benefited from some billionaire owner laundering their country`s funds.

Clearly you ARE a stuck broken record Mr Arnfield - under the rules of FFP we cannot just tap the Abu Dhabi Sovereign Funds for money - we are a self sustaining profitable business! It is you United that are now relying on ridiculously inflated sponsorship deals (a 1.1 BILLION DOLLARS shirt deal??? FFS) to fund your ridiculous scattergun transfer policy

I noticed the first editions of the BBC football "gossip" this morning, showed an image of the back page from "The Sun." This was an article describing how De Gea was furious with United over his transfer shambles. No mention or links from the "impartial" BBC to the article and the image has now been pulled from the latest edition of the BBC "gossip" page.

I also noticed, on transfer deadline day, how Sky quickly changed their "experts," when Ian Holloway and another were ripping into United about the De Gea fiasco. They said "thanks for your comments Ian, but you've been substituted..." Sky introduced new "experts", who talked about how blameless United were, and far from being a shambles, everything had been perfect.
