NOT A CHANCE wait till that already depleted thin squad has CL and cup games to deal with ,
I hope your right, they looked awful for long parts against Liverpool, but just get the feeling the win will along with the whole tide of media fawning could drive them along like Liverpool two seasons ago....

I've never understood this obsession with football fans to deny any and all weakness exist or others have any strengths. In their world getting beaten by United must have being an absolutely inexplicable event given that we're better than them in every position and they're completely wank. This is probably where all of the outrage comes from towards the manager or the DoF or whoever, they have no idea why it happened so just point at somebody as it being there fault.

The same happened when I suggested that Barcelona pretty much had a better squad than us in every single position before our two legs against them. Many shouted me down and said many of our players would walk into their team and we were going to do them home and away. But the fact remains that they're still better than us in almost every position and our squad still isn't of that quality. It will be one day given enough investment, development, guidance and success both home and abroad but it isn't there yet. Same with Bayern and Real who man for man are just better than us outright.

It's ok. It is ok to not be insufferably arrogant and think that everything associated with the club is perfect and the best in the world just because it carries our logo on it. It's ok that we're not the best squad in the world. We're attempting to become it and moving in the right direction year by year, season by season. Footballing realities dictate that if we're going to strengthen then we're going to have a large upgrade rather than a tiny upgrade for such a hugely important position; this is what I imagine the pursuit of Pogba was about and why a Barkley or Wilshere didn't come in. But we didn't sign them and are left with a weakness in our centre mid spot. That's fine, we'll address it either in January or more likely next summer. This season was about addressing the somewhat snail's pace in the attack by bringing two people who will compliment Aguero's game and give him the type of service that he wants. Like Barcelona and Real Madrid, our executive staff are now talking about how they can help their talisman win the Balon D'Or and financially backing him in the market to help him achieve it. If he doesn't then it's ultimately on his own shoulders.

We can't do it all at once. This summer was to improve the quality of the attack. Next summer will probably be our centre mid, possibly with a few recruits from Bayern if the Guardiola deal much gossiped about does actually happen such as Thiago.

But none of this changes the fact that their 4 as a whole/unit are more talented than ours as a whole/unit. Yes Yaya is above them all head and shoulders. Him aside though, you people are seriously looking at players like Schweinsteiger, Carrick and Herrera then comparing him to Fernando and thinking Fernando is the better player? I mean, there's just nothing at all to support that outside of the colour of the shirt that he's wearing.

I can honestly say that they have the better centre midfield squad depth. I can also then honestly say that we're better in numerous other positions. I'm happy that the second sentence there is probably a rational viewpoint and not a product of inane delusion because the first one also isn't.

so they will win fuck all then ? ill take that

4 vs 4, Utd probably do have the better midfield on paper but it's more than that, say they play Schwiensteiger, Carrick, Fellaini, Mata and Herrera like they did against Liverpool first half, slow, immobile, gonna get whacked against a quick, athletic side. I'd much rather have Fernandinho over anyone, the man is vital and can also play, also Yaya on his day simply offers more than any other midfielder in the world, by this I mean, being able to switch positions, change his game up, dictate it, can boss it all. Utd do have a solid midfield but step up a quick athletic team and they'll be over run unless they can dictate the play which won't happen with Memphis Depay losing the ball every time he gets it.

Hahaha Mate phone and said that's what we payed 36Mil for!! 58Mil I shouted as he hung up the phone..

Up until the centre mid part I'd agree, I however think you have to look at the team as a unit, and looking purely on paper ignores the contribution those players have to make to a style and the success of the rest of the team.

Whilst Schweinsteiger has reputation, Carrick has experience and skill, Fellaini has his elbows etc., I think our midfield is stronger because we have more variety, we have a better range of different attributes and can shape our whole team around that differentiation. I think United are one dimensional, and aren't stronger in the attributes in which we are already strong, that make us a better side. Sure, on previous Schweinsteiger and Carrick are better than Fernando, but he's not only a different player but has a different role in our side. If theirs were brought into our side they'd make it worse, if ours were put in theirs it would make it much better, no matter what Van Gaal tried to make them play.

So I'd disagree with you.

Along with technical ability, mental attitude is important, last season we maybe lost it, this season we have it in abundance and the RAGS are clearly lacking it as reflected in their games so far, especially the first half against Liverpool. The dippers had that game for the taking in the first half but they were shite, that in itself gave the RAGS some belief.

Yep, Carrick and Schwiensteiger basically play the same role whilst Scheinderlin only offers a !more robust holding player than what Carrick is, all good players but all are what's on the tin, Yaya and Dinho offer as a whole more and can dictate their style to the chosen team. A 100% motivated Yaya is simply unstoppable, he can do almost everything.

United only have the better centre mid, if you take Toure and Fernandinho out of the equation.

Was just about to post the same thing. If you had to pick a midfield 2 from both team's centre mid's, then on footballing terms you would pick YaYa and Fern, and I can't really see any bias or controversy in that.

I'd rather have Yaya AND Fernandinho ahead of ANY of yoonited's midfield.

Fernando has been shite so far for us and will be moved on next summer I reckon.

Really think crystal was joking though, I'd even say Arsenal's midfield is better than the red scum's.

Dinho has been an absolute beast for us this season, breaking up play and protecting our back four, as well as lending support to our attacks and scoring two cracking goals.

Yaya is Yaya; on his day, the best central midfielder in the world and showing again this season why we were so eager to bring him to Etihad five years ago.

Nando, as you say, hasn't shown, so far, that he is worthy of a place in our squad, apart from the occasional decent performance.

Delph, when he's finally fully fit, will, I'm sure prove why we were so keen to bring him to City. He is coming into his prime, unlike two of his counterparts in Trafford - Carrick and pig keeper - who have both had their day, though I'm sure they will give the rags a few decent games.

Schneiderlin did well at Southampton, but like others before him, including Lovren, fatty Shaw and Lambert, it's by no means certain that he will be a success at the swamp.

And Herrera? He seems to be a good player, but he's not up to Fernandinho's level, IMHO.

I think our boys win hands down.
