This lad looks very cool and calm, big yes please.
Ahead of Kompany or Otamendi? I know Kompany is not playing at the moment but he's training so any thoughts of strengthening the defence are surely dead for the moment

Disagree. Kompany, in my opinion, will not recover from this re-occurring calf problem. I doubt he will feature a lot this season anymore.

No, let's give Jason a proper shot before resorting to splashing the cash.

Then if he isn't the player we thought he can be and Stones ends up at Chelsea, United or Barcelona we will regret not making the move while we have the chance.

Denayer still hasn't performed well at centreback in a proper league; in an ideal world he gets a proper loan next season and can come back in a few years and partner Stones for the next decade.

We might have to treat Kompany like Spurs did with Ledley King; wrap him in cotton wool and use him in 15-20 key games a season.

I watched the World Cup 1966 Final last night and Sky Sports and I could see similarities between Bobby Moore and John Stones. Obviously Stones isn't at that level yet, but his calmness and elegance on the ball is there. I also thought it was interesting that Moore, aswell as Pique, played as the left CB. Does the left CB role suit a right footed CB who wants to come out with the ball? Stones currently plays as right CB, just an observation.

I still think Stones needs to work on his defensive ability and I'm not sure Martinez is the manager to help him with that. If Stones came here, under Guardiola's management he could blossom and grow to the next level. Stones has got all the tools to become a world class centre back, just needs more experience and better coaching for his defensive ability.

Most overrated kid I have ever seen. Constantly getting turned inside out hope we stay well clear. We do need a CB though as we just have to imagine Kompany doesn't play for us anymore and if he's fit then that's a bonus.

Bloody hell. Player with potential, but the way he's talked up at the moment is going to leave a lot of people disappointed with the reality.

So he can be fit for the Euros with Belguim ?

Exactly what I've been thinking for a while now... I'd be tempted to give him this season off to try and get back to full fitness for next season, although obviously if he feels ready when we're playing any crunch matches later in the season then play him. Then see what he's like next season, if his injury breaks are similar I'd say it would be time to tone down his training and play him in key games only, as you say, ala King.

Stones is a good player, no doubting that but he is only 21 and still learning the game. has good composure and is skilful but his defending in the box and composure when crosses fly in leaves a lot to be desired.he gets drawn out of position too much when strikers drop deep, and gets caught out too frequently by trying to dribble his way out of trouble leading to conceding too many sloppy goals.

I like the way your talking the lad down .
You don't want him to leave .
I would have him at City now .

I've not seen much of him, but with Pep being reported as wanting him, is Laporte at 21 a better and probably cheaper option ?

not sure about talking him down, all valid points but yeah i wouldn't want him to leave but football is a mercenary business and if he goes i wish him well.

Or maybe he's just being honest based on what he's seen from the player. Seems a lot more realistic about his strengths and weaknesses than some on here.

but he isn't though, it seems to be the thing now that all young english players are overrated. he's a good young player with lots of potential. if he's the most overrated kid you've ever seen then you haven't seen him play or haven't seen all there other kids that end up going nowhere

Come back in a few years? You're having a laugh if you think a prospect like him is going to accept that.

Not saying he is or isn't ready for our team but I'm sure he'd rather be at a club where he can stay and progress.

He's so overrated that Gerard Pique picked him in his best world eleven but hey that's your opinion.

Think that says more about pique to be honest. John Stones is utter dog pap

What the same Pique that's won everything and played with and against world class players but still he named Stones before all the other pretenders but we should ignore that? Look He's still got a lot to learn granted especially with positioning which he will get better at playing alongside an experienced player but to say he's dog pap is going way over the top as the kid has bags of talent imo but At the age of 21 there is no complete defender, they all have loads to learn and have their flaws including Laporte, Varane etc.

He has never stepped on the same field as John stones, pique is just an attention seeking c*nt.

John stones in the best two CB in the world? Go to bed son
