Report that Guardiola plans to sell Silva [according to Twitter ITK]

I do not give this "source" any credence but I think that we do need to be prepared for big changes some of which may be painful.

I do not think any player can be considered safe under Pep - even Sergio as Pep might want somebody with a more robust injury record (although this would truly shock me if it happened).

I love David, Zabba and Vinny but Pep may want to build a team that will peak in four years time which would make the retention of these players not so critical as most fans would think.

If David goes I will still sulk for at least a month!
 
Shock horror what a surprise that the media are trying to upset 1 our better players on the day of a big game! It's not like that as happened before! Wait till the cup final! Aguero, hart, kompany will all be going that day!
 
Is the author a Spurs fan who's just heard that David is fit for today by any chance !?!
 
Hope it's bollocks, but the truth is no one but pep his close aides and the club know what he's planning the papers are full of shite.

Would like to think silva serge and zab too would always have a place at city, but in the end I have loved many players in the past that have been sold and been gutted that's the game I suppose

There's a bit in Pep Confidential where he tells a young manager to always pick the best players, when she asks how to know who the best players are he says "the ones who never lose the ball".

Can't imagine him getting rid of Spanish Dave.
 
I don't think I'll ever be as gutted about a player leaving as I was about SWP to the Rentboys, perhaps only Sergio will come close. The spine that has served us so well for the last 5 years or so will start breaking up under Pep but that could be despite not because of. Yaya is definite toast IMO and I wouldn't be surprised to see Merlin back in Spain within 2 years. Assuming Pep stays for the whole of his 3 year contract I would expect Vinny and Zabba to be toast before that as well but probably cos there are younger and better out there. They all come and go.

Twas ever thus.

As a club though we are finally in a position to have them leave us on our terms rather than having to sell for financial reasons.

Ive been a critic of Merlin this season and im adamant that some big decisions are needed on some of our big players this summer.

A few years back we could have cashed in on Yaya and the rest is history.

We cant make the same mistakes again.

I dont want rid of Merlin, i want him back to his imperious best under Pep but my point is, should their be truth in this and we do sell, we move on and GDM point of they come and go is absolutely spot on.
 
If Silva is sold because Pep has decided he can make us function better,as a team,without him,then im all for it.Never has a truer sentence been spoken than 'no player is bigger than the club'.Silva has been a magnificent signing but then,i have little doubt.......so will be his replacement.
 
Pep won't decide anything until he gets here and sees how the players react to his approach. I've been critical over Silva's seeming reluctance to press the ball even when it's just inches from him but given his ankle troubles I can perhaps understand it.
 
Not that I believe it for one moment but if it happens then at least we will get a good fee to reinvest in a replacement. There's always a time when the cash is better than another couple of years from an ageing player no matter how iconic.

I bet Mrs Guardiola ain't privy either. I should imagine there will be some 'sacred cows' sacrificed before next season starts, but some of these ruminants are untouchable for the moment. I just hope he hasn't read too much of Big Mal's seconding coming!
