Nasri under Pep

Nasri’s contract will be highly bonus driven so I don’t think it is as simple as he is guaranteed £160k a week. I don’t claim to be an ITK but it was widely reported city were renewing contracts at £80k a week + massive bonuses around the time when Nasri signed up (all linked to FFP stuff at the time).

I think if Pep comes in he will want to bring in various new players and for everyone that he brings in one will have to go. Nasri is already out of the CL squad and the last player we did that to left in the next window. If we want to shift players on it will be as simple as ‘thanks for what you have done but you will not be in the PL or CL squad next year’. It is then down to the player to sit on their contract and collect the money or look to agree a deal to leave, I would imagine 9 out of 10 would not hang around when facing the humiliation of being dropped from the 1st team squad. We might have to let them walk on a free or even pay some of them off but that is the way of modern football.

The guy you're responding to is one of the biggest ITKs on here, so I'm sure he'd know about Nasri's contract :)

Robben has always been good, & worked well for Bayern, but he was a different player when Pep's team arrived at our place, than on any other occasion I've ever seen him.

But he has already played like this with Heynckes in the treble season. You have to see that he was injured in autumn that season - and Heynckes had worked wonders on Ribery who in that season already had developed into a great teamworker. Heynckes had his "favourite player" Kroos playing on the 10. And Müller who played on the right that season was not just bagging goals and assists in masses but especially did that whenever the team needed to be "saved". When Robben came back from his usual injury there was no place for him in the team. He was somewhat the B-team captain. Knowing Heynckes he would not have let him play if he would not have changed. And the fans and the team really appreciated when he tracked back - he got more applause with sprints to the back or a tackling near the own box than he has gotten before with his offensive actions. Heynckes was lucky that Kroos got injured in the Juventus match as then Müller went back to the hanging striker position and Robben back onto the right wing.

I know.

I never trust Tolm unless what he says is in the form of a YouTube riddle.

I don't tend to trust any in the knows as a couple of lucky guess'es can make you some kind of Internet God! My top itk stab in the darks for this summer would be: Jose to rags, Neymar to city and kagawa to dippers! You heard it hear first!

I thought this may be referring to Nasri as Pep's catamite.............I blame the op for the thread title.

It's easy to forget what a player brings to the team when he's been out for a long time.

I loved everything about the team that season. We scored goals for fun and were so entertaining to watch. Nasri's goal in the League Cup Final was incredible. just a shame for him Yaya scored the goal he did that day

When Heynckes' Bayern destroyed Barcelona I couldn't believe the Robben I was watching. He was unplayable offensively and defended like he was possessed by Roy Keane.
I agree Guardiola has kept Robben at that level. He demands great effort from all his players. Not just Milner type effort, smart football intelligent graft.

Nasri under both Mancini and Pellegrini has always covered good ground and his distances ran compare with anyone. He's not shy to put the yards in. Will they be yards relevant to a Pep side, only time will tell.

This is the one player I think can thrive more than any other.

He strikes me as someone who wants to please, if the right person gets in his head, just as Wenger did.

He was picking up a series of niggling injuries for quite a while now, but a mentally switched-on Nasri is half the battle.

If he can get on board and drop about a stone in weight, we might still see the player we thought he could go on to be.

Injuries or no, a sad indictment on him that he's clearly carrying too much weight. But hopefully the diletatnte will be one of those who responds to the opportunity to be a part of the next chapter.

The puff piece in Sunday's programme suggests that he will be at least given the chance.

Correct. Only second to Milner I believe in ground covered but with considerably more skill.

Thanks for posting. What a fucking player. Really looking forward to getting him back.

I'd resigned myself to losing Nasri and tbh I wasn't that arsed. He has talent by the bucket load and I'm not sure if it's managers who haven't used him properly or he hasn't applied himself well and worked hard enough himself. If Pep keeps him and Nasri applies himself well, it will be like having a new £50M player.

Pep understands how to get the best out of people, Nasri could come back fighting for a place next season when he returns from injury, he already seems quite upbeat since the big news come out at the start of the month.

It's no coincidence that Nasri's had two average seasons & two very good seasons while he's been here & in both of his very good seasons we won the league. Wonderful player when his head's in the right place. If he stays (think he will) & Pep can make him more consistent, I honestly believe he'll become a key player for us.
