I don't think 4 months is long enough for us average joes to get our head around both sides of the arguement for in or out, both sides will be putting out false info,it'll be terrible if we make the wrong choice

Do you think your life will change at all either way ?

That's why I'm not too concerned whatever outcome. I don't believe it will change our nation or the world. And with both leaders of our two biggest parties plus the biggest buisness leaders in support of staying in. I can't see the out vote winning.

The EU is no different from FIFA and UEFA they all hate us and only want us in to get what ever they can out of us whilst giving nothing back.

You only have to watch the Eurovision Song Contest to see what the rest of Europe thinks of us.

Definitely OUT for me.

I was saving this argument until things got bad; you have nowhere to go now you have gone this early with the big guns.
Eurovision land hates us so fuck'em vote out

It's an easy choice Karen.

Do you want to be responsible for your own future good or bad? or would you prefer to leave that to people who think they know better but who are not answerable to you?

Do you want to subsidise Europe to the tune of 10 billion pounds a year, or do you have any ideas on where that money could be spent here?

See you both make it sound a simple choice when it is clearly not, that much i do understand

I don't know if it will change or not but i'm going to listening very carefully to both sides before deciding

How did the UK MEPs vote?

We get less out because we are economically more productive. Our reward is to subsidise those who are not.

He doesn't say that. He say's we would be free to regulate as we feel fit.

What happened before does not cancel what happened next!

This is nonsense. Nato is the defensive organisation. The wars we have seen since the formation of Nato have almost all been disunited countries breaking up to their original cultural groups and the EU has has no part in their prevention. The EU has NOTHING to do with defence.

So are Germany not the most powerful economy in Europe and committed EU members?

Regarding the role of the EU in peace time Europe. Have you heard of the phrase that; "The pen is oftern mightier than the sword".

I can t recall how the English MEPs voted but they have differed according to political groupings.

Free to regulate as we see fit is likely to see a worsening employment rights for most workers.

Regarding slavery, this is a piss poor area to take credit for.

I would agree, mostly. I don't think life will change either way. Immigration, for example, will still persist at levels that many euro-sceptics are uncomfortable with.

Broadly I think its a horrible time to have to have a referendum, the uncertainty it brings could be damaging if the global economy suffers over the medium term.

For senior politicians, Europe is a pension fund
Think along the lines of top footballers playing their last footballing days in America

This whole referendum seems pretty miserable to me. I'd say a majority of people have already made their mind up and if presented with evidence that counters their worldview, it is dismissed unequivocally. This effectively renders any discussion completely moot. But, I don't think most want the information, they want the information that suits their existing viewpoint, rather than frame view point based upon information. It feels a bit like the 9/11 truthers; very steadfast in their resolve.

My gut tells me that the the government know that economically, we are probably all in for a bit of a rougher time than the previous few years. The referendum being in June is an attempt to take further volatility and risk out of the equation.

But, broadly, I don't expect things to change a great deal. The world has been moving towards regional trading and political union for some time now, I don't expect that to change.

It seems to me that a lot of the reasons people are saying they want to vote out for will stay the same. Eg immigration in or out will continue to rise because we need immigration to fill the workforce and keep tax revenues high to afford the pensions of an aging population, control of armed forces, we'd still be in NATO.. We'd save money we might but I think it's likely we will have to spend the 10bill or more employing more civil servants and renegotiating trade agreements etc. Also with no euro rules to safeguard workers, and Scotland probably jumping ship England will likely have a Tory Government for a long time to come? I am undecided but leaning towards in? Am following as much of the debates as I can it could be a massive balls up given global issues if we fuck this up.

To the average man/women on this forum, what will be the real difference either way?

I wanted to Scots to go independent and see how they got on so I am considering an 'out' vote. Why not leave then if it doesn't work reapply for membership in 5-10yrs? If they'll have Poland and Lithuania, I'm sure they'll hav us!
Whereas if we vote 'in' we will be in for, at least(I reckon), another 50yrs

I thought that was the case but wanted to make sure. It's for a different thread but I fucking hate those daft two word 'words'! Why do they do it, to save space for more print or do they think the public are too stupid to understand two words?
It's called A Portmanteau... Or "Frankenword"

Blame Lewis Carroll. And /or Humpty Dumpty.

As for The EU. I think leaving is a far worse idea than staying. We're in a strong position, relatively, being in the EU but outside the Eurozone. They need us in. So they'll give us more leeway to keep us. If we leave, and then Scotland go back in (they can and will) then that's the UK gone.

The remaining EU will wash their hands of us (probably), certainly in the short term, which will (probably) mean higher prices for most imports. We'll have to try to renegotiate deals with them and everyone else beyond from a position of relative weakness.

Also there's a very real possibility that us leaving the EU will, further, destabilise Europe and that really is not a good thing for us at all.

All this "Do you want to be responsible for your own future..." rhetoric is nonsense and is based in nothing other than tribalism. Of course we're all responsible for our own lives and futures on an individual day to day basis, but the risks to that life, for an uncertain future, are just not worth it IMO. If you want to be "responsible" then take the sensible/less risky option...

The EU is far from perfect but show me any country/state that is.

I'll be voting to remain.

I'm undecided but leaning more towards us leaving. But I will keep myself up to date on both sides of the argument and try and make an informed decision in 4 months.

Unfortunately, in spite of how amazingly good Cameron's deal is, I still won't get to directly elect the EU's legislators so I'm still voting out.

I'll take democracy over a Soviet style system of government any day.
