Totally agree. Everton only keep a clean sheet when he's not involved. Good on the ball. In fact top draw considering his age. But a poor defender. Exactly what we don't need for me. Appreciate he's young and will improve but defensively will never be world class for me

If Stones says that he wants to go the price will most likely be the same sa before if not cheaper. A millionare can only do so much but he wont be wasting his career there.
 
i think once we find some sort of midfield stability, 2 out of Mangala, Kompany, Otamendi and denayer will be good enough. We didn't concede a goal in the first 5 games and thats because all our players were fresh and getting in the oppositions faces. Now the 34 year old yaya just can't quite cut it in the defensive aspect of our game due to him being knackered 40 mins in a game. i would personally stick than twist.

Yaya is 32 years old, but I agree anyways.
 
I think Stones is a talented player and with the right coach could become one of the worlds best defenders. I would be delighted if we sign him.
 
I guess we're definitely getting him as The Mirror are running an article saying Barca don't want him due to what they've heard about his personality.

Well, that makes me more confident than anything else we'll get him.

I genuinely can't tell if Stones will be a fantastic defender. Under Martinez it's impossible to tell, any defender would look kinda shit under his management.
 
I add up all the pluses and negatives about Stones, and i can see very little difference between him and Denayer, except Denayer is already at the club and won't cost a ridiculous fee. I really don't get it. Give Denayer a go, if it doesn't work out we still have 3 other experienced central defenders, plus other promising young ones.

Sort out the midfield and all our defenders will look better anyway.

No one is saying Denayer will not get a go, but if we have two central defenders leaving they should be replaced in the squad.
