Is it ever acceptable to boo players?

Niall Quinn reckoned there was a point just before he left us when there were more players in the City dressing room who wanted us to lose than wanted us to win. So players who presumably were very happy to take their money but were more than happy for us to get relegated. Did they deserve booing? I haven't booed players for a very long time but it's easy to forget some of those times, particularly under Frank Clark, when it actually felt like your duty as a fan to give the players who were letting us down so badly some grief. Would I boo Bony? Absolutely not.

Bony's had his chance, he failed to grasp it all season. As a result he has been holding back the development of one of the best youngsters in the premier league. Its not like he was booed for every touch he made, but more the decision to introduce him that was booed. He did infact get a cheer when he managed to get a touch, he could of had a few more cheers if he had the ability to anticipate the ball and the effort to get to it
Mate, he was booed warming up and then when he came on, and the announcer said his name, there was loud booing. It was embarassing. Clearly people dont like him

Its just another way fans show passion, so I dont get to wound up about. I was there when Edgehill was getting boo'd and I thought that was totally unfair and massively effected his game.

I suppose its a way of the fans letting a player know that a his levels of commitment falls below of what is expected of him and especially when we know he's better. Players like bony have had all season to impress yet very rarely break into a sweat and for some thats unacceptable. How else can you let that player know that is actions are poor? Write to the club? Buy the house next door?....No, You just have to accept as a way of communication.

Take it on the chin and stop trying to clone fans in to another version of yourself it takes many to make a clubs atmosphere, regardless of it appropriate nature.

The player has to just show some commitment and maybe the coach could also protect the player a little by not throwing him on in such a vital game at such a pivotal moment.

No, it's a cunts trick. Never have and never will however poor I might think they are.

In very exceptional circumstance yes. IMO players have a duty to form a relationship with the fans, they need to show some recognition of the privilege it is to wear the shirt. Fans would crawl through broken glass for 10 mins on the pitch and if they got a chance they would run themselves into the ground! Players who clearly and consistently take the piss should face some consequence. However players who are shit and can’t help being shit do not deserve it.

No problem with booing players at all, if they're not putting 100% in they deserve to get booed. Bony hasn't put the effort in. Yaya earlier in the season got jeered off because he wasn't putting the effort in and so have many players for the last 30 years I've been going to games.

I can understand booing a performance, although i wouldnt personally. But why the fuck do people moan about bony not trying and being shit when they are fucking booing him? Pathetic.

It was dreadful to hear so called City fans booing one of their players as he comes on. Truly embarrassing and the idiots concerned have not thought how the other players must feel. We'll lose our best players - who'd want to play in such an atmosphere caused by shit fans.

I had assumed people were booing the decision to swap Navas, who was playing very well, for Bony, who hasn't played well ever. If they were booing the player directly, surely they'd boo his every touch?

Against booing. But don't blame people for booing Bony, I just wouldn't personally do it.
