Taking our Owners for Granted!

I also don't think it was unexpected.
I'd seen or heard little to suggest any form of presentation was going to be made after the match until the full time whistle went. It sounded to me like they tried to think of what they could throw in to keep people behind, but after the U18s failed. A big "please stay behind to thank Pelligrini" announcement might have swayed some.

I didn't stay, but from what I heard, there was a 10-15 minute gap before the players came back out - surely they could have stayed on the pitch at the end.... at least it would have told people that something was going to happen.

those 3 points don't really take our owner for granted though, most of the moaning on here is about
1. sorano's cold corporate attitude to the fans with his lack of acknowledgement or empathy with what he probably considers consumers or stakeholders.
2.tixi's somewhat failed transfer dealings and stalking of pep for 4 years.
3. pellers inability to manage a decent squad of players and talented youth side to be able to compete on several fronts as other top european clubs seem to be able - athletico a prime example.

Not seen any real negative comments on khaldoon or Shiekh Mansour or taking what he has done for us for granted, I expect he probably feels let down by these people too as they have failed in some aspects of their roles ( cannot slag sorano for his expansion of the group profile nycfc, melbourne etc).

I would say people take it for granted that having a wealthy owner guarentees success and act a little precious if we don't win every week.

1. Soriano has done an excellent job of bringing money in left right and centre, making city more and more self sustainable e.g Nike, China, New York etc. etc. I really don't care if he doesn't smile enough

2. Txiki just landed us the best manager in world football right now as well as de bruyne, ferni, sterling (whatever your opinion to how well he as done, when we bought him he was the most desirable English player going)

3 . totally agreed

Read this forum only a few years but can't remember anyone complaining about the ownership. Or even Chairman, really.

The negativity and complaining in general? That's the internet. Or "football fans." I read the 'Cafe after their WHU loss and thought "these people are truly hateful and negative." Or the more or less perennial Wenger hatred on the Arsenal sites. Or any club, really.

I also think our owners are savvy enough to have someone monitoring this forum to gauge fans opinion.
I'm sure they are running around looking for a leaving present for Yaya and the receipt for Sterling. ;-)
I wouldn't necessarily say this forum and the views expressed here are 100% inline with ones shared by blues when you see them and chat at the ground. Bluemoon is hardly unified as far as opinion is concerned - we can't even agree on muffin or barm.

On sorano I acknowledged his great work in expanding the group and brand, however football is an emotive sport and his complete lack of engagement with the fans is frustrating to some, not arsed if he smiles but at least speak to the fans from time to time. I also acknowledge his brief is bigger than just one club and so he cannot be as hand on as cook was.

Txiki bringing in 3 top players (I think sterling is gonna be one of our best signings btw in time) doesn't make up for his other transfer business, and getting pep as great as it is but if that was his remit then he has only done what he's paid for really. Tbf I don't have a problwm with him his buys that have frustrated may improve with a better manager just like bobby improved nige, zab and kompany etc whom hughes wasted.

Anyway this thread was about balancing the critism of HRH, but I would say that he hasn't been critised but, sorano and txiki whether rightly or wrongly have.

Are people specifically complaining about the owner now?

I wouldnt have thought so. More complaining about certain aspects of how the club has been run, this is something thats happened often on here over the past three or four years.

Touche!

I think we are probably more or less agreed on Soriano, I just personally don't mind at all if he doesn't engage with fans, if he did I would find it to be superficial and false anyway. like when you see politicians talking to kids in schools, comes across as insincere, they don't really give a toss what little timmy thinks about the EU referendum ;)

Also agreed on Sterling, going to prove his doubters wrong in the coming years.

On a tangent, I once met Khaldoon and chatted to him for about 10 minutes in the stadium after a match. He was an absolutely lovely bloke, I only regret that I didn't ask him for a job

I actually dont get this gratitude thing with regards our owner. Some seem to go out of their way to make sure any critism of the club is not aimed at him or could be construed to be. I think they are worried too much negativity on our part could make him think sod it this isn't worth the hassle.

We have had a dud manager for a few years and the transfers have been a bit ropey. Next few years should be better. Either way it is up to our owner to employ the right people. I ain't thankful to him in the slghtest.

Spot on response to the 3 items. I would add that City prior to Soriano were fairly poor in terms of corporate identity and in maximising revenues. It is not his job to engage with fans - but he has elevated us to another level - to be the sixth highest earners in football globally is an amazing achievement and he has led his team well. Garry Cook was polar opposite but in some ways he tried too hard to be one of the boys - entertaining, yes but wholly successful, not really. Access to fans is an odd one and something that Pep will help achieve. I like most am excited to see a fresh approach to footballing matters as the off field matters will take care of themselves. It amazed me how quickly Pellegrini lost a lot of support after a decent start to his City journey. Although dignified to the media, I felt he was poor in his match preparation and his lack of flexibility during poor spells of form - this proved to be the nail in the coffin for me and a lot of fans.

Lastly -To answer the thread topic, I think the owner is fully appreciated by most fans, but I wouldn't lose any sleep about him moving on or for that matter him worrying about opinions - his investment has tripled and will only increase as we progress on the global stage.

I tend to agree. I genuinely think there are those who are that weak minded they believe Bluemoon and a few negative posts might be enough to make him take his ball home in a huff. It'd be funny if it wasn't so tragic.

Did make me laugh and cry at the same time last week when someone on here suggested Khaldoon should apologise to the supporters for this season. Absolutely staggering stuff.

This,i don't know any blues who take the owner for granted at all

I think LOTS of people do, perhaps even a majority of City supporters do.

We've kind of forgotten about how lucky we are, or at least we don't think about it day to day. We moan and complain and just expect vast sums of money to be spent year on year without even thinking about it.

I call that "taking our owner for granted".

We have a lot to be thankful for. The club is excellently managed and going on match day is fantastic. We are now spoken about in the same terms as Bayern , Madrid , PSg.

Even if the last 3 years have felt a bit disappointing it was still all part of the clubs master plan to get pep as they saw pep as the man to build a club and a legacy on a world scale. We may well look back in 5 years and think bloody hell what foresight to go with pellers , mark time for a few years as we knew pep was coming for long term. Who knows pellers may have always been comfortable with this plan and known for ages that he had 3 years and that pep was coming.

Look at the ground the facilities etc and we should be thankful. We could very easily have been Newcastle. I am really looking forward to the summer and next season.
