The Stone Roses/Ian Brown

I bet the vast majority of people whinging about the lyrics are Oasis fans.

Go figure.

I like it. It doesn't sound like the first LP but let's face it they were 27 years younger then and that captured a moment wonderfully. This is them now.

It doesn't have that 'mystery' or need deciphering like their early stuff does but it's uplifting and full on rock and roll.

It sounds like the Roses, Noel Gallagher, Slade and Status Quo mixed up in a bowl and hurled out at you with a big Lemon shaped spoon.

It's impossible that a stone roses fan would think it's a bit shit isn't it.

Personally I think people want it to be good regardless of whether it is or not. I don't think anyone will be playing this song in a few weeks. It's forgettable.

Nothing ground breaking, easy listening though and I suspect one that would sound better live with 30,000 fans singing along too.
It's like when Oasis released Lyla as their first single from one of their albums, I thought that was just easy listening and nothing great, but when I heard it live it sounded brilliant. I'm hoping for the same with "All for one".

I actually quite liked it, think Squire did a good job. The lyrics though are absolutely terrible. I had low expectations though so pretty happy with it

What's your opinion on it?
If I'm honest I expected to be blown away by something a bit heavier than that. But after a few listens It's definitely grown on me, very different from the debut and second coming. It's catchy and in the same vein as one love where it's simple words repeated. Can't wait for the album. What you think of it?

Sounds like something a Britains got talent contestant would sing when they tell the judges they will be singing an original song. And that contestant wouldn't get through.

Did enjoy seeing all the Stone Roses fans on social media pretend they love it

I am a huge Roses fan and I think its dire. From reading one of the Roses forums last night, a lot of them are really underwhelmed.

Have seen a lot of people say you can't expect them to be like they were in their heyday and thats fair enough. Yet go listen to the recent stuff by James, The Charlatans and especially the most recent New Order album. All 3 prove that even though not as good as their heyday, it is still possible to come out with quality music.

Heres the new Northern Uproar tune. Its miles better than the Roses effort.

I'm only surprised that people are surprised it's shit. They weren't that much cop the first time around.

It's musically really good, especially the guitar playing.

The lyrics are cringy as fuck though. Like the kind of thing you'd expect to hear from a Beatles cover band in a pub "so, this is one of our own..." Cue the groans from the regulars.

I think they're trying to reference Donald Trump's wall and trying to put a unifying Summer of Love positive vibe on it. But the lyrics just completely miss the mark and sound too simple and like a nursery rhyme.

The Roses always seemed to want to distance themselves from the Oasis comparisons, not wanting to be associated with piss-chucking yobs. But this sounds like something from a Heathen Chemistry B-Side and might as well be called "Piss Throwers Anthem".

True to form and just like every song they have ever done total shite

One of the most overated groups of all time
Popular just because it became trendy to say you liked them just like the Artic Monkeys in that respect

proud to say get them mixed up with happy Mondays and couldn't name a song by them.

I like it mate. It's uplifting and triumphant. A few heads are saying the lyrics are bobbins, they're actually really clever when you listen properly.

If this was an Oasis record their fans would have their cocks out saying how great it is. If this was a new band people would be saying 'fucking tune'.

I think a lot of the disappointment is people thinking they'd be getting another Waterfall, Resurrection or Adored and then this isn't 'that' sound. You can't beat perfection and you can't expect 'that' sound when the creators are 27 years older nowadays.

This will grow on people like fuck and even the miserable cunts who don't want to like it will be buzzing their nuts off to it on the sly.

This is akin to saying Altrincham are better than Barcelona.

Complete bollocks. Popular because their debut album was sensational, just like the Arctic Monkeys. That would be nearer the truth.

Not a huge fan of this track though to be honest. Great guitar hook, but not a great deal else

No one is saying Northern Uproar are better The Stone Roses. What I am saying is that new Northern Uproar tune is far better than the new Roses tune.

Unless you mean the James, Charlatans or New Order bit. None of them may have had a single album as good as The Roses debut, but The Roses are not a patch on New Order or James.
