Gundogan

It's not an ideal situation but Gundogan is that good, he's worth the wait. Judging by the more reliable posters he'll be fit when the Champions League group stages begin and that's when the "squad" is stretched so we'll be absolutely fine. I can't imagine he'll be the only central midfielder arriving either, considering the only true all rounder we have is Fernandinho.

That said I think we'll be playing a 3-6-1 next season, with two holding midfielders and two central attacking midfielders. It's the only way to get De Bruyne and Silva in the same team in their favoured positions.
Perhaps one of them wouldn't get in :)

He will be fit in October according to reports, and then he may need a month to hit top form, therefore I prefer to wait until January and sign him when he is fit and have only 6 months left on his contract.

I dislocated my kneecap - it has never been the same since. I think we should pass on this player.

You must have been really unlucky.

I dislocated mine, did all the required physiotherapy at the hospital and have never had a problem with it since.

I assume he'll be getting the best treatment possible so we shouldn't think twice about getting him.

Who cares if we have to wait a couple months for him or for Laporte too? We're signing them to be long term players for us. 1-2 months are nothing compared to 4-5 years which is what we're hoping to get from them. Sure I'd prefer them to be healthy at the start of the season, but if we have to wait a month then so be it. If anything it knocks his price down a little bit. Where else can you get a player of his quality for 17M? If somebody told you they'd sell you an Aston Martin for a thousand quid but you gotta wait a month for it, you wouldn't want to wait?

He either signs with us or he's signing a longer term deal with Dortmund. We want it sorted out as much as Dortmund want it sorted out on their end. You see they are trying to do business quickly tying up other re-signs and bringing in Dembele. There's no waiting till January/let him run down his contract. Dortmund don't like dealing with uncertainty, you can even look at how they handled the Klopp situation where he knew he had to make a decision one way or the other so they could make sure they got Tuchel in as he was the manager on the rise.

Some are upset with not getting Xhaka, like I said previously, he picks up plenty of cards/suspension . As much as we have issues with injuries we also have issues with our MF picking up needless yellows and Xhaka's style will see a lot of those in the PL.

Pjanic looks like he's possibly off to Juve and others are still in play to pick up along with IG. One thing we see now is the Bundesliga is moving pretty quickly with their transfers so we're probably looking to wrap up IG/Sané and possibly Thiago. Have to think longer term, he would normally command a higher fee, he's still young and he's still coming off an excellent season.

If 17mil is the asking price....then no reason why we cant buy Gundogan (injury or no injury) as his signing isnt going to impact our spending for the summer. At a bigger price bracket this might be a risky move but the long term potential of this signing and at this price, makes it a win-win for us.....I just wish Txiki would close some of these deals....find it really frustrating that Bayern can close Renato Sanches deal in 2 days after reports that the rags werent moving fast enough and we've reportedly been in talks for "months" for players like Gundogan and Laporte and still not closed even when one of them has a release clause we've rumoured to be willing to trigger.....

It's probably not that simple. As long as he closes the deal, when he does it isn't that much of a worry within reason

Do you think if we sign Gundogan we will sign anymore midfielders? Because we really need more than 1.

That's good news, I don't know anybody else personally who has had this excruciating injury. To be fair it happened late on in my sporting days and I gave up football and cricket afterwards. Nowadays the knee is very arthritic and unstable and will have to be replaced soon, probably didn't get the right care and physio at the time.

The transfer window isnt actually open yet is it? Hasnt it always been july 1st? or is my head in cuckoo land here?

You not in cuckoo land mate!;) Your right....Officially no, its not open for another month but try telling that to teams like Bayern and Arsenal who have already done deals...With the euros coming up that "official" transfer date doesnt really make much impact as teams wanting to do their business earlier this year...

Agree in principle and sign in july then?

I disclocated mine at the age of 21 and it's been weak ever since too. I'm 27 now but I'm not able to play football at the same intensity, as it can quite easily give way if I make a wrong turn.

At the time I was told there wasn't a surgical procedure that could be done, due to an impact fracture being caused by bone on bone.

Hopefully, if we sign him, his injury is not the same and he makes a 100% recovery.

I agree....what has surprised me this season is that teams have already confirmed signings and shown pictures of players signing contracts so early...as you say, normally you hear rumours of "agreement in principle" deals and then its confirmed closer to the transfer window...for teams like Bayern/Arsenal to be signing so soon after the season, I think this shows teams acting alot quicker this season with euros/copa in 2-3weeks...another example of this is athletico madrid signing Nico Gaitan from Benfica....looks like thats close to done and as he's been named in the Argentina squad for copa that deal has been done quickly...
