I think the main problem with it is the creators/producers of Top Gear think that by just sticking any presenters in the show and following the same format the old presenters took would still work.
The Stig "some say..." bit needs binning off, as does telling Evans to over-hype everything to fuck which comes across as annoying. Also, taking cheap shots at Clarkson (first ep with "not mentioning food on this show anymore..." and last nights Eddie Jordan "and on that bombshell...") comes across as petty.
To be honest unless they had a contract in place for the theme music, although great they should have completely re-formatted and changed the show. It literally comes across as though Clarkson/May/Hammond are all off sick or on hols and these are stepping in for them atm.
The South Africa bit yesterday was good but again, much like the narration of Evans over the three of them (Evans/Le Blanc/Jordan) bickering over who's got the better car, it's exactly the same sort of thing we're used to seeing with Clarkson/May/Hammond... The producers need to realise they can't just replicate the show whilst replacing their presenters and for it to work the same. It comes across as almost parody like, and considering Le Blanc isn't used to presenting (although he's actually quite decent at it), it's not a very good parody either.
I'm going to give it a chance but if they don't begin to change some of the ways in which the presenting is done rather than what feels like the producers thinking, "well... this worked when Clarkson/May/Hammond did it so it should work now...", a show needs to evolve, especially when it's lost essentially it's face.
