Jose Gimenez

The player would be due to a double culture shock. Moving from Spain to England i.e. Madrid to Manchester. And changing from Simeone style to Pep style.
As things stand I'd go with Stones to be the sole CB we get in and see from there with the ones available, including Denayer.

Look I have high hopes with Denayer too. But honestly it's discouraging that he couldn't even start for Belgium that only has 2 able defenders. At first he was gonna start at CB with Alderweireld on the right. But Wilmots changed it. Why? Maybe he thinks Denayer isn't good enough to start at CB. So start at RB then? Again, no. Wilmots preferred freakin Ciman and Meuniere than Denayer. Just think about it.

How can this be discouraging I don't understand.
Is Stones starting for England in any position? Why was Giminez on the bench for Atletico during the CL-final and Savic preferred? Why didn't Laporte play for Spain yet in an important qualifier? You honestly think a player of the age of Denayer and for a position as CB is being judged by playing in the national team at a Europena Championship?

Because Stones has Smalling and Cahill in front of him. Arguably more solid players. Same thing with Gimenez, he was playing behind Savic and Godin. While Denayer is behind Ciman and Meuniere. I mean come on. If Denayer was behind Alderweireld and Vertonghen I understand.

I'm sorry. But Denayer for Belgium is only a CB. Wilmots don't see him as a RB. Never played there for Belgium. So Smalling is a better option than Stones for us? And wasn't Savic a City reject? But whatever mate. Just keep looking for the 50million players from other clubs. So much better ...

He played RB in the friendlies before the Euros I think. Some sort of trial for him I guess. He didn't pass.

He played the whole season with Galatasaray as a RB. And if you want to be frank, that's where he will play at City. He is at the bottom of the CB totem pole at City unfortunately. Vinny Otamendi and Stones will be above him.

Wrong again mate. Started as RB. Injured. Finished (strongly) as CB. But if you want to compare him from a RB position than also do this with Stones and Giminez. Oh wait ... Denayer is also more versatile in your opinion.
Btw. When did we signed Stones?

I still think the best way for Denayer to get minutes for our club is to play RB. He's not gonna leapfrog Kompany, Otamendi, Stones (if we sign him of course), and definitely not Gimenez (if we sign him too).

If we buy a CB and he's not better than Mangala then whoever identifies 'that' player needs to be instantly sacked.... including the manager if its him ;)

Good, i would love to see him given a chance in a side coached by Pep, why spunk £50 million on another centre half without giving him a go unless Pep feels he is totally wank.

I still think he will come good in the right system ala Savic.
