Jose Gimenez

I keep seeing people suggest this, for various people, but it's not Pep's job to fix overpaid and underperforming players.

Turning Mangala into something other than a defensive liability is a distraction that can easily be avoided by replacing him.
Just as with Sterling. :-)

Pep's job is very much to fix under-performing players, to suggest anything else is ridiculous. That's a managers job - get players performing well, and with that, riase the team's performance.

Guardiola's ability to get the best out of players and to improve them as individuals is a major reason why he's considered the best coach in the world.

I don't know if anyone else has this feeling (probably not), but I'd rather Guardiola turn Mangala into Boateng II. He has every physical attribute for the Prem, just lacks that mental training for football. Plus Gimenez has a £50m release clause. I see something in the lad.

Turning him into a Boateng would take a miracle. Boateng is perhaps the best "ball playing" defender out there. Have you seen his passing? I can't name a defender with better distribution. Mangala has the physical qualities, but unfortunately lacks the technical aspect.

Unbelievably there are still some fans who don't rate Boateng. That tackle he made on lewandowski was one of the best moments of the tournament so far. I think Mangala has the technique. Decision making has been an issue. I think if he got games, he'd settle down and improve. City need a settled regular defensive partnership but we have not had that for a while.

Does this mean Gimenez is plan B for Laporte or instead of Stones?....There were reports we had interest in signing 2 CB's but all seems silent on the Stones front...

You can't turn shit into gold

Pairing Gimenez with Stones makes more sense than Laporte if you think about it. Laporte and Stones are kind of similar, while Gimenez is a different type. More brutish.
Stones/Laporte = Pique
Gimenez = Puyol
