Labour / Tory Party meltdown Referendum fallout

Plenty of criticism and insults being thrown about by Labour politicians but very few hats.

If Corbyn's so weak and unpopular, why is nobody stepping forward with a solid challenge?

Quite agree with that synopsis, except for one thing. City players don't dive -they're fouled!

I struggle to understand some of the electorate sometimes. It wasn't too long ago that people were saying that there's a cigarette paper between labour and the tories because they occupy the centre ground. So the tories lurched right, labour lurched left.
Now people are saying we need someone to occupy the centre ground!!!
Well what do we want??
I think Benn may be too honest and principled to be PM. I do respect him though. Especially when he openly defied his leader in the commons, knowing he could be sacked for it.
I saw one labour mp in an interview just come out and say, "this whole thing has come about because white working class people have concerns and didn't get listened to. This was the only way they thought they could be heard". It didn't go down well with members of her party.
Btw, I think Burnham will just blow with the wind to get what he wants. Totally untrustworthy imo.

This is one of the most interesting potential developments from this. Question is does this happen sooner rather than later? Do we want the parties to reform aligned with the new wills of the people before negotiating our exit from the EU or is that a fractious step too far given everything else going on?

They are trying to force him to fall on his sword and resign because they know that even if they forced a leadership contest he would still win due to his support from the membership. Another example of career politicians unwilling to accept democracy unless it goes their way.

Don't see what Hillary has done that is honest or with principal, he was sacked for phoning round trying to start a coup. pretty shifty in my opinion. Up to now the resignations are the ones you would expect tbf del perio just gone too.

Not any more because the Labour movement is dead in the water.

And any savvy enough politician knows the next General Election is already on lock for Conservatives.
 
Corbyn is dead in the water,very few survive once the boulder starts rolling. Labour will put a centric blairite in the seat which will help regain support. I like corbyn but the election result was a disaster and the fact is; left wing leaders dont win elections.
If Labour can get their act together in the next 12 months they might, might make a fight of the next ge.

Ian Murray on bbc news now saying Jeremy not able to leave then when asked who should says that's a question for another day.

The mind boggles seems like they have gone into this with no plan, bizzare and pointless, ripping the party apart. We all know they have been waiting for an excuse to do this and the referendom seems to have been perfect for them in that respect, but they haven't a clue.

Also refusing to do an open ballot shows a level of cowardice on their part, if you are against corbyn then why hide behin a secret vote.

Labour's main problem is that the activists (and possibly the party members in general) are not representative of a high enough percentage of the potential voters.
Corbyn got 251,000 votes in the leadership election (59.5%), yet virtually every Labour supporter I know described him as "unelectable". I suspect they meant the Labour party with him in charge was unelectable but you get my drift.
Plenty of the millions needed to gain power want a centre left or just centre Labour party, but the activists and members want something further to the left and there aren't enough willing to work to stop the tail wagging the dog.
The Tories are in a deep pile of manure and neither Labour nor the Lib-Dems can take advantage.

For some of these shallow power hungry idiots I suspect this will be their fifteen minutes of fame.
Good to see the lib dem leader going against the wishes of the country and his own constituency by promising to keep us in the EU if the lib dems get in at the next GE.
It strikes me that the mess UK politics is in is largely because of a disconnect between career politicians and the electorate, yet still they seem deaf and blind.

These faceless mps were the best Corbyn could muster for his Shadow Cabinet their replacements will be even worse if he can fill a cabinet that is.
As for that Lib dem prat I honestly had no idea who he was
 
Christ, just listening to Radio 4 and the stuff Labour MPs are saying is quite damning. One of them said that Diane Abbot told them to go and start their own party if they didn't like the way things were going. Those are strong words, especially from one so close to Corbyn.
