Is there a genuine likelihood that these odious commie rags might go under or is it wishful thinking?.
The thing is, apparently they had at least 4, maybe 6 staff on or around over 30K a year in various capacities with very little evidence that their position was viable and / or relevant! It was all jobs for the boys paid out of members money. It appears it was a free for all at the clubs / members expense.
They haven't replaced Andy Walsh (so that is a saving of 3K a month) and all the other ''mates'' except the secretary (again I may be wrong on the secretary) have left the club - so there is an immediate saving of easily close to 100K plus (depending on the accuracy of those on a salary). No wonder they are running at a loss!
One example is one bloke was on 30K as a chief fundraiser and brought next to nothing in funds. He has left the club, so instant saving of 30K.
If the new board can operate the club without the previous full time salaried positions (how many full time employees do Altrincham, Stalybridge, Curzon Ashton have?) and gates keep up with a good cup run like last season (they received around 120K from the FA Cup run, spunked on the above salaries) then they could get back on track.
Also if the rumoured bar staff stop giving their mates free beer each game, then the bar may start to make a profit too!
The main non playing lack of funds has come from the lack of hire of the use of facilities. The projected use of rooms and the bar hired for weddings etc was way too high and the return figure of income way too low as a result.
They are stuck in the world where if you rely on the good will of volunteers you may not get the expected outcomes required (or number of volunteers required) to complete the job to the standard required. But if they then rely on paid staff to do the job but they are not achieving the standards of the job required then they are in the same position as having under achieving volunteers - but are even more financially perilous as a result. I can see a point soon when they do start looking at shirt sponsorship and start seeing TV money (when offered) in a different light than the old regime / board did. The time for high morals and principals v ''we need the money'' may not be too far around the corner. Traditionalists amongst members may kick back, but to the new board it could be taking the money or ultimately it is the end of the club.
