United away - pre-match thread

You make some nice points there. Who do you think should fill in for Aguero on saturday?

For me that has a lot to do with the way you expect United to play.

Until now I know matches against Mourinho from Bayern or Barcelona in this way - Inter-Bayern was park the bus, Real- Jupp's Bayern was an open play, Chelsea-Bayern was park the bus, Real-Barcelona park the bus.

What does he do tomorrow?

I am not so sure he will park the bus as he lacks the fast strike force and City is not so stable in their ball possession system right now as Bayern and Barcelona were. But I think Mou will plan on getting some freekicks as with Fellaini (if available), Ibra and Smalling that is a weapon

Working against a parked bus with a false nine or something similar is very difficult. That is matches in which I would prefer at Bayern to play with Lewy and Müller in the box because you have two strikerlike players who really know each other and are home in the box and it often is something they trigger that then makes you score. That are often matches in which not excellence in football but smartness let's you win.

How do you think Mourinho plans his tactics? I haven't seen a match of them now - only know that they had problems scoring and that the combined lack of mobility of a combined Rooney and Ibra might be a problem...

Where will all blues be heading before the match pub wise? Apologies if this has already been asked.

P.S, let's fu*king smash 'em.

It's striking how the clubs are handling the derby, they are gobbing off and wheeling out all their has beens and we are staying quiet and respectful, maureen will be trying to wind up bad feeling tomorrow whilst pep will not,we will play football they will be out to injure and cheat, for the first time for a while i really want to do them good

Yeah but they need all the drama, we don't. PEGs at his best when he gets an 'us against the world' attitude amongst his players, we just play football.

Mourinho's entire strategy tomorrow will be "MUST NOT LOSE". He will set up for a bore-fest and hope to sneak a goal with a moment of brilliance from the greasy swede. Mourinho won't give a toss about winning or drawing, he's just interested in how many points they have after 38 games, and he will not want a humiliating defeat. He'd be perfectly happy with a 0-0.

From United's side I don't think there will be any special tactical plan. This game has come too early in the season and the international break has made it even more difficult.

Expect both teams to go out and generally try to play their own games, we'll keep a good shape and try to move the ball forward and quickly and I expect City to try and dominate possession. I guess the question marks are how they deal with the loss of Aguero and for United whether Mata's lack of pace is an issue, if Mkhitaryan is out then I could easily see Lingard starting.

Leroy Sane says he is ready to give City a major boost ahead of the Manchester derby.

The talented 20-year-old has been side-lined with a muscle pull and is yet to play for the Blues since his summer move from Schalke.

But the winger Germany boss Joachim Low says is a “special talent” is fit and raring to go – if selected.

“I feel good now and I think I’m ready to play,” said Sane. “I’ve trained well and my hamstring is fine so I’m looking for to finally getting started.”

I think we'll look great and play fantastic football.

However, they'll get their lucky goal and it'll be hailed as a Mourinho masterclass that Pep never saw coming...

Probably big nose or Rashford to grab the headlines with a world class finish - aka a shinned shot that deflects three times before scraping in off the post.

Last season they were crap for much of it but always seemed to be able to take their one chance to win many 3 pointers. If we get the first goal on Saturday we should be comfortable.

Our tactic will be to do what we have been doing, possession football, work an opening, then strike, let Utd chase the game, they are at home, the crowd will expect them to be the team dominating.
Don't give away needless free kicks outside the box, let the get frustrated, the crowd on their backs, and pick them off.

First time in a while ? I always want to do them good . But I agree they will be out to injure. Bog brush will do 1 of our playmakers early on and get away with it and that will set the tone for the whole game. Also Rooney will be reffing the game .
I hate derbies because my nerves are off the scale and i would take 1-0 and run but i really want to show them up for the crap they really are

The coordinated attacks on Pep in the media today are really something to behold. I can't believe how scared they are.
Pep is sitting at his desk as we speak doing his best James Bond Baddy face whilst weaving his plans for Saturdays world domination...His white fluffy cat is purrrrring like a kitten :)

They will fall to the floor in and around the box given any opportunity where we happen to touch them, then they will hope to nick one from a free kick or corner utilising their height advantage.

I expect this match to be decided by the referee sadly.

What's especially strange to me is the United folk (scum) being run out to talk about Pep's style as "boring". Boring? Is this some sort of weird pre-emptive strike to blame Pep when their manager desperately tries to create a draw and play no football whatsoever? There are reasonable criticisms actual humans could bring up about Pep and his teams but boring hardly describes the vast majority of them.

For me they will look to get the ball in the box via crosses asap, and that included rooney going deep and looking for Ibrahimovich or fellaini in the box or firing it out wide to a shaw or Valencia.

That is the only game plan I have seen from seeing their highlights on motd. There is not a chance on earth that Ibrahimovich will track back or run for the cause, because we will be looking for possession and control of the game.

You mention we don't have the ball retention of Bayern and Barca....which is correct but mourinho will go defence first, out of the 2 clubs it is them that cannot afford to lose this game, not us. I think you are doing Nolito a disservice with your false 9 comment, Nolito is a very smart footballer, not the fastest but intelligent and awareness of what position to take or pass to pick.

Watch the first 20 minutes very closely because united will want a fast start and will pump that ball into the box at the first opportunity, if they do score then they will close ranks. If they don't then imo we will grab firm control of the game and take the win. Their defence is the same as last season, they will be better set up but you can't replace movement and awareness via a manager talking to you.

Put our attack against their defence, and we win all day long we have the players to unlock them both ways, Silva with his passing, KDB with his crossing ability and passing, sterling with his movement and pace.

Agree totally

I think this match has come 2 weeks too early. If it was Swansea this Sat and the rags in 2 weeks time I would be very confident of a blue win on both days. As it is, I just feel that we won't make the space / opening enough times to score more than them as they will score, no doubt about it.
