Premier League Games 13/14 Dec(midweek, page 53)

Double Jeopardy rule.

Mason should have at least give him a yellow.
Double jeopardy rule is only for professional fouls where a player "makes a genuine attempt to play the ball".

Nothing to do with souls foul play or dangerous/violent conduct.

Lee the Rag Mason has deemed the penalty enough of a punishment.

So, a 'rag ref' has passed up the opportunity of sending off an Arsenal player? Why would he?
As for double jeopardy, it only counts if an attempt at playing the ball has led to the penalty. Violent conduct (which an elbow is) would be a red. The good news is he didn't give him a yellow, so he can still get charged and banned, if it's as bad as it sounded.

But they'll still be able to field 11 players.

Aguerro's was half as violent but he looked at what was behind him.

3 match ban is a no brainer for this one but lets see if the colour red wins out again.

Didn't think that applied to elbows in the temple.
I agree.

It's the only justification for not doing him I can think of? Apart from Mason being a corrupt ****.

NBC calling for a ban. Are BT/SKY calling it "A controversial penalty"?

Would that apply in a case of violent conduct? If it did, that'd mean you could make a punchbag out of someone in the penalty area and because a penalty has been awarded, you wouldn't get sent off. I'm not fully up to speed on the new rule, but I doubt you'd get away with that somehow.

My commentators haven't mentioned any potential review.

It's the only thing I can think off for not carding him. Apart from kicking off on the agenda thread.
