Double jeopardy rule is only for professional fouls where a player "makes a genuine attempt to play the ball".Double Jeopardy rule.
Mason should have at least give him a yellow.
Lee the Rag Mason has deemed the penalty enough of a punishment.
So, a 'rag ref' has passed up the opportunity of sending off an Arsenal player? Why would he?Double Jeopardy rule.

As for double jeopardy, it only counts if an attempt at playing the ball has led to the penalty. Violent conduct (which an elbow is) would be a red. The good news is he didn't give him a yellow, so he can still get charged and banned, if it's as bad as it sounded.

Why would anyone want to worship an elbow?Didn't think that applied to elbows in the temple.
I agree.Didn't think that applied to elbows in the temple.
Would that apply in a case of violent conduct? If it did, that'd mean you could make a punchbag out of someone in the penalty area and because a penalty has been awarded, you wouldn't get sent off. I'm not fully up to speed on the new rule, but I doubt you'd get away with that somehow.Double Jeopardy rule.

And he's not a City player so won't get the 4 match ban.But they'll still be able to field 11 players.
I agree.
It's the only justification for not doing him I can think of? Apart from Mason being a corrupt ****.
NBC calling for a ban. Are BT/SKY calling it "A controversial penalty"?
It's the only thing I can think off for not carding him. Apart from kicking off on the agenda thread.Would that apply in a case of violent conduct? The commentator said it was worth a retrospective review. The washed up pundit with him (Tony Gale??) ignored it.My commentators haven't mentioned any potential review.
Double jeopardy rule not in force for serious foul play of which an elbow isDouble Jeopardy rule.
Mason should have at least give him a yellow.
A defence????Bellerin shows exactly what we're missing.
