David Silva - 2016/17 performances

So I see Silva has more forward passes than any other player in the Premier League. But yet @Jack74 and the other band of merry men cry from the rooftops that he only passes sideways and slows us down.

They're like a bunch of Macedonian computer nerds spreading fake news! Check your facts lads, before you start demanding for a wall to be built.

Also there's no evidence there that Dave is inhibiting KdB, given that he's 2nd in the list.

Absolutely mate. They were unstoppable early on in the season when playing as a pair in the middle. That central partnership has been broken up since Gundogan got fit, which is one of the great mysteries of our time!

For me KDB and Silva should be the first two names on the team sheet playing centrally and then the rest of the team fits around them, not the other way around.

Vs Chelsea - one of best players
Vs Leicester - he's not at his best anymore and will be gone soon.
Vs Watford - one of our best players.

Stop writing our players off FFS

Very very good tonight.

As bad a news Gundogans injury is, for the sake of our season and especially Merlins form i think it could well be a blessing in disguise going forward as it gives him and Kevin the space in which they need to operate.

Very good tonight, worked so hard and was great defensively as well as going forward. With Gundogans injury Pep might move him inside and play Sane on the left, similar balance to the start of the season.

This. Not saying I'm happy to see Gundogan injured but when all three play they seem to get in eachother's way a bit.

I do love Dave, I did like his goal, but it's hard to ignore that there are some aspects of his game that he used to master that now are patchy or are beyond him with his drop off from his physical peak.

He's still a good/very good player on his day, but I sadly do feel that out of him/KDB/Gundogan it'll be him shifted on come season end to balance the forward line a little better.

Some really nice points today, including his goal, but in the rest of the game enough to suggest that his absolute best may be beyond him now.

He's still beautiful though.

Shows that football is all about opinions. Cannot understand for the life of me how anyone could call him absolute class tonight. Bang average for me. Should not be taking dead ball kicks if KdB is on the pitch.

We all see different things in different players.

Absolutely bang average for me and has been for a while. He completely ruins our attacking shape by constantly ensuring he's never more than five yards away from the ball.
Rofl. Is that not so that he can get on it? Aren't we all about short passing? Where should he be in your opinion?

He should be finding space between the fullback and CB. Not constantly chasing after the ball.
Is he a cf? That's never been his game. his ability to find space or play in tight spaces can't be questioned I'm afraid. Silvas best work is just off the front men always has been always will be.

Really came into the game in the second half and was one of our best players along with Yaya and Raheem.

How anyone can say he "ruins our shape" by "chasing after the ball" is beyond me. I'd wager that the main reason Pep sees him as vital to our team is his positional awareness and constant desire to create space. He spends less time looking at the ball than he does looking over his shoulder.

Absoulte class , fucking spare me good finish and like the rest of team was average .

What is it with some of you why do you feel you have to go over the top about him.

Laughable
