David Silva - 2016/17 performances

He should be finding space between the fullback and CB. Not constantly chasing after the ball.

I'm 99% sure he's doing exactly what Guardiola wants him to do. Not only has he played every game possible, which is a massive endorsement when we've got options to bench him.

I've very rarely seen him get a bollocking/correction from Pep on the sideline the way that most of the team do either, when they talk it seems much more like passing tactical orders on.

Seriously do you think he was absoulte class last night , do you think some of the statements are maybe a touch over the top about him , he has was/is a good player 4 us but nothing more .

Watched the game back as soon as I got home last night and I have to say I'm straying a lot closer to "absolute class" than "bang average".

That being said, I would find it hard to describe any individual performance as absolute class but it was a very good team effort and Silva was, along with Yaya, the most influential in that.

For me, at least; going off some of what's been written on this site since full time last night, I must have been watching a different game.

Ok what mark out of ten are your giving him and the team performance , am saying 6 for both and the reason is he was bang average and so was the team not one player deserved an 8/10

My oversimplified summation of the match would be just as meaningless as yours but I'd probably end up agreeing that nobody got above an eight.

However, I've been here long enough to know how this goes and I'll end up feeling like we're talking to opposite sides of a brick wall so I'll leave you to it mate.

No worries mate happy Christmas , up the blues

It's funny how goals can distort performances isn't it? I think it's a solid 7/10 performance but not really a class one, even though Spanish Dave was one of our better players last night. Don't get me wrong, it was a great finish to celebrate his 200th Prem appearance and I'm very happy for him, but I was somewhat bemused that in some games (certainly less than a while ago) he didn't get the recognition he deserved despite playing better. Perhaps it's all about opinions, but I think it's obvious that stats on goals and assists belie his performance in the new linking role.

We always see what we want to see. Some called it shirking of responsibility to pass before shoot, but then this is perhaps the reason why strikers love him. Some say he lacked mobility and pace (does he truly lack them?), but he seemed to get on pretty well without those, with the exception of the Leceister game. Some think he's constantly chasing after the ball, well I'm pretty sure that he went long periods being further than 5 yards away from the ball. And you'd think that Pep would have given him one hell of a bollocking if he did disrupt the attacking shape.

As for hindering Gundogan and KDB, I could make an argument about them hindering him too, when the truth is they are still learning about the new system and each other. Sooner or later it would be sorted out.

Good game from spanish dave today. He is one of the best city players i have ever seen. Kept running right till the end. His pressing and defensive work dont get enough justice for me. When he plays well we play well.

A lot of misplaced passes today but you cannot fault his attitude at 30 years old he cannot be expected to play every week at such a high standard , we should nevr rhave let Nasri leave for f*ck all he could have helped the workload on Merlin over the course of the season

Thought he was excellent today. Worked incredibly hard.
When he drops in holes and plays between the lines he's a joy to watch.

His desire and work ethic is exceptional.

Thought he played really well , yeah a few misplaced passes , but at least they where forward passes , best he has played in ages
