Liverpool - post match thread.

All that is great, but if you don't understand what Sheik Mansour is doing in (and out) of this club then you really should pay more attention, there isn't a chance of him 'bailing out', none, so comments like that are utterly ridiculous given the investment he has already made.
SM has invested in the local community and a massive amount in City's infrastructure. He bought City as a young man. However, the amount he's invested in City does not guarantee that he won't move on to other projects. That's my big fear. Only my opinion. Don't get so uptight.

But those that remain will have been indoctrinated and we should have a proper preseason. Also, buy the right players and they will adapt quickly.
But he bought players in the summer to fit in his system and it isn't working now

Where do you start?

No penetration up front. Poor passing in midfield; Merlin and KdB especially profligate. Dinho pretty anonymous.

Only the defence did well. And while I agree that Kolarov must take a share of responsibility for losing the ball at the start of the move, it occurred far enough upfield for the chance to be snuffed out long before it reached our penalty area.

My MotM? Pablo Zabaleta.

Has anyone had a reality check yet, we lost 1-0 to a team, second in the league, with the best home record in it and a god awful record against them, I'm disappointed but it's hardly WW3

Why am I reading everywhere that we were deservedly beaten? We weren't, they were just as shit just had one chance and scored.

A 12 yard header? I think he would have a good go. The thing is I don't want my goalie to play centre mid I want him to make saves and clear his lines and to shout at the defence and organise them.

At least bravo can do 20 keepy uppys, that's an important skill of a goalie.

I doubt two Joe Harts would have saved that header.

We have some great players and some that wouldn't get in Hull's team .Everytime one of them idiots on Tv say we have the best squad I'd like to give them a slap. When all our players are fit, we have a good team . But we still lack goals ( other than serg) I'm sure Pep can see that we need players that can receive the ball while marked and retain possession. How many times did we give the ball away tonight it was painful watching these guys. He must also see that our game is a lot quicker, which means we need to bring players with ability and they need to be athletes . So every player we hire doesn't need to be a superstar but be a good piece of the jigsaw that makes us a great team

We didn't simply allow them to score: their pass, cross and header were excellent but we did concede possession unnecessarily to set them off.
I don't agree, ignoring the conceding of possession, it was way to easy to move the ball from there to Lallana, we could have done better cutting out the cross (Zab), and good header that it was, Kolarov's defending of it was awful, hopelessly the wrong side of the player despite managing to get in front him him at one point (not to mention the question of where both CB's were ?).

In my book it was very poor, nobody should be scoring 10 seconds after we concede the ball on the edge of our opponents box.

I don't think you should get berated or 'banned' for saying what for many of us would be our worst fears. Like Cleavers I think SM's project was not purely waiting for the coming of Pep and will not end when Pep goes. However if I was him I'd be thinking wtf. If so he's learnt what it is to be a City fan wtf wtf wtf.

yeah yeah yeah, biased ref, missed chances, better team yada yada yada.
Say whatever you want, but so suggest that Conte got "lucky" is ridiculous.
Ridiculous to say that Conte got lucky like pellegrini inheriting a upset team that the season before won the league think about it son

I'm with PB on the subject of Aguero. Looks like a man on borrowed time to me and today he was absolute wank. Chuck in 7 games out of contention due to self indulgent petulance, at a rough cost of £1.5m in wages, and I can't see Pep putting up with him long term. He needs a fucking rocket up his arse. I'd disagree with your assessment of Sterling's contribution however. For the first hour he was diabolical, a walking dictionary definition of how not to deal with a baying mob. He ended up losing the ball every time he tried to run forward, he crossed it into the crowd, and ended up playing the ball backwards time after time. He improved thereafter, but was still no more than a 4/10 overall.

As others have said, calls for Pep's head, or anything of that nature, are ridiculous. There's no point in acquiring the best manager in the world and then not giving him time to do the job, and if you compare the 2nd half today to our performance at Klanfield 12 months ago, then you'll see clear evidence of our improvement. The sense of disappointment should not be ignored however. When players like DeBruyne, Aguero, Otamendi and Sterling turn in performances as gormless and physically and mentally weak as they did today, it's not unreasonable to ask why the manager isn't getting more out of them. What irked most was that the candle wavers were there for the taking today, and we still didn't look like turning them over. There's an almighty clear out needed this summer IMO and the time to start judging Pep properly will be in 12 months time

It's fair to ask why manager isn't getting more out of those players but the answer may well be that whatever the manager does, those players will continue to display the same issues; it may be that more time is needed e.g. KDB and Sterling can still mature considerably and they can all still improve.

I thought we needed a major clear out before Pep arrived and that opinion has only hardened.

But Pep doesn't want defenders who just defend as he doesn't want a goalkeeper who just makes saves, he'd like 11 midfielders if he could so we may get new fullbacks, centre halfs but we won't necessarily defend any better
Now that is an interesting formation --------------------------- 0-11-0
