Players need a platform to perform on, to become better, the way we are these days, we expect ready made stars, not stars in progress, a couple of bad games and they're thrown to the dogs, we can't sign anyone n everyone at the end of the day, likes of Van Dijk need to get 18+months under their belt at a club like Southampton to grow and get experience in the Premier League, to prove their worth, if we sign him n he does shit everyone boots off about us buying players from Scotlamd.
 
At this stage I trust everything Dan Timperlye says (he's been reliable in the past) and he reckons we're in for him. I doubt we'll get him in Jan though.
 
He's a good player that would improve us, annoyingly have said this years yet now he has a new fat contract we suddenly seem genuinely interested - will cost silly money, again.

Seen Laporte saying moving to City would've been a good move & he'll consider any offers - haven't watched any of Bilbao this season but they concede a lot of goals, I'd be happier with VvD.

Saying all that I still feel FB is our weakest area, if we'll get anyone in January my money goes on fullback rather than CB, can't see us spending £50m on a player this window which is what it'd cost for a van Dijk/Laporte.

FB will be weaker in June when we lose our current FBs but right now we have exactly 2 CBs and that is simply not enough. CB and CM are where we currently are weakest.

50 is what it will take to get Laporte in January or July. If we are going to trigger release clauses, the sooner the better.
 
After his performance on Wednesday against Spurs and the money being mentioned It's a no from me.
 
Watched him v Spurs in detail looks very raw to me, positional play 5/10 ability in sit 8/10 distribution is mixed with some good and some very poor, gifting the opposition the ball in dangerous areas.
Hope we don't pay more than 25M if it was my decision I'd would buy
 
Have people not learnt judging a player on one performance? If that's the case then Sergio, Merlin and kev are shite as well then as they've had poor performances this season!! Due to the tv money £50m is the new £25m unfortunately and the selling team now knows it can rinse the buying club! Especially in the U.K.? Suppose that's why teams buy foreign as there are buyout clauses so you know the price of you want a quick deal
