Inconsistency is what will stop him reaching the next level. Currently you don't know what Sterling is going to turn up, if he can find consistency in his game then there's nothing stopping him becoming "world class".
I'd love to be proven wrong, but I just don't see how he's ever going to go on and be a really great player. He's pretty much the exact same player now as he was when he was 17. Absolutely no vision or awareness of what's going on around him, no upper body strength and has a poor first touch and technique (he seems to control and strike the ball with his inner heel).
In the last few games alone he's managed to trip over his feet whilst dribbling (vs Liverpool), trip over when through on goal (vs Burnley) and take a complete air shot from 12 yards vs Watford. I wouldn't expect a youth player to be doing things like that, let alone a £44 million player with over 200 games behind him.
Ask any player who's played with or against Sterling and they'll say one of his main qualities is his strength. Also to say he's the same player he was at 17 is scandalous, he's good enough to start at a club of this standard and he'll get better.
The best Sterling has ever consistently produced was in the 2013/14 season when we pipped Liverpool to the title. Three years down the line he hasn't consistently reached those heights again, so I think all the talk of him getting better as he gets older is nothing more than pure guesswork and City fans crossing their fingers and hoping for the best.
Never hides even when he's having a bad game. He's only 22 but at his age he's arguably our most important attacking player. He's continually being let down by others around him.
He is as much to blame as the rest of them. Had two great chances at 0-0 today, missed both. He may be young but he isn't your average 22 year old, he has tonnes of experience in the top flight and needs to start delivering the goods on a consistent basis. I'm sorry but when you cost £44m you don't get a pass because of age.
Not on today's performance he's not. Second best in every situation. Loses possession too easily and will never be an instinctive finisher
He's a grafter and actually looks like he cares, which can't be said for a lot of them. Having said that,I don't believe he is good enough. He lacks a killer instinct in his goal scoring and creativity.

He most definitely isn't world class potential. He is a good player that has good and bad games, I would be surprised if in 2 or 3 years he has improved significantly. I just don't see it in him.hes been one of our most creative players this season. hes been better then silva a lot of games this year and hes only 22. how is he not going to be good enough. I'm not saying you in particular, but he plays well - hes world class potential, he doesnt play well and hes not good enough. fickle fans on here.
