so based on one game where no one played well, hes not going to be a superstar.
Not based on one game mate. I was replying to a post that suggested that Sterling was as good as Hazard! No fookin way. Hazard protects the ball in such a way that Sterling can only dream of. Hazard is so much stronger and skilful. Sterling very rarely retains possession.

He most definitely isn't world class potential. He is a good player that has good and bad games, I would be surprised if in 2 or 3 years he has improved significantly. I just don't see it in him.

in your opinion hes not. but based on this season hes been one of our best players and is one of our main attacking players.

oh fair enough mate. I'm not sure, but i think i read somewhere saying he has more assists then hazard this year ? big difference as well is age hazard is 4 or 5 years older then sterling. hazard wasn't as good as sterling at the same age.

Ok he might have more assists. But I watch Hazzard and I rarely see him lose possession. I watch Sterling and I expect him to lose possession. Don't get me wrong I really want Raheem to do well but I'm running out of patience. It's not that he doesn't try or work hard, I just don't think he has the natural talent that someone like Hazard has. When Real Madrid or Barca come looking for their next attacking midfielder they will be looking at Hazzard, not Sterling.

Good enough for what exactly?
For where this club strives to be. He is not the only one by a long way

Fair enough,in my opinion he won't develop much more than what we see now. I hope he proves me wrong and becomes as productive as a Bale or Robben but I just done see it. He plays like he really cares and that's enough for me at the moment.

Had a stinker today.
what games have you been watching this season ?? he's been one of our best players.
no he hasn't. When he's bad, he's laughable. He still shoots like he's got a broken ankle. Still can't finish. Did you see when he crossed it half way up the Kop at Anfield? Did you see when he kicked the fucking ground instead of the ball when clean through against Burnley??? All I keep reading is that he's the nuts but I've yet to see it.

If he keeps improving as he has been doing he will be world-class in time.

His performances in Europe are overlooked but he's been excellent in the last two group stages.

your watching someone else, if you dont think hes been good this season. stop reacting to todays game..... when anyone plays bad its not good.

It's an interesting one this. I tend to agree with you. Hazard looks much more polished a player. Sterling can be infuriating at times. However, he is 4 years younger and that has to be taken into account. Also Sterling delivers in numbers at least

Sterling 2015 11 goals, 10 assists in a season where he got pelleters at times. Was decent for me up until New Year.
Hazard 2015. 6 goals 8 assists. Granted there were challenges at Chelsea

Sterling 2016. 6 goals 11 assists. Missed too many chances granted
Hazard 2016. 9 goals 4 assists. Played upfront a few times

Of course Sterling needs to improve but compared to players at a similar age, his numbers are up there.

I'm not sure that really says a lot. He has good games and he has bad games like all players, however the very best players have significantly more good games than bad. In my opinion Sterling is 50/50 which isn't good enough.

Ok. Another way at looking at this....Hazzard joined Chelsea in 2012 I think.. So that's nearly 5 years ago and he hit the ground running in his first season. So yes Raheeem is younger but at the same age Hazzard was streets ahead

Well thats just plain wrong then as Sterling have had way more good performances than bad ones this season.

Fair comment, or on the face of it, it Is. However Hazard was on the pitch around 1600 minutes more, than Sterling was last year, during that season you mention. Over 17 more full games played in reality. Once you factor that in, their numbers are much closer. Although Hazard still comes out on top. I do agree Hazard is a far more rounded player and Sterling will probably always be that annoying type of player who you feel should do better. But his numbers are good, he is young and we have bigger issues for me.

Controversial, but KDB and Silva are underperforming more for me than Sterling. And they don't have immaturity as an excuse

That's not true though is it? In fact his individual form somewhat mirrors that of the team, excellent for the 1st month, hit or miss since. His improvement on last season is there for all to see but top-class/world-class? Nah, not even close.

I think Sterling's strength is that he takes players out of the game because he's fast and can, theoretically, open up a defence. When he does get round people he does fuck all most of the time so once they work that out his main strength goes.

I like him to be honest but he's too lightweight and gets bullied off the ball far too much.

he has improved on last season that is for sure.

He is a bit of a physical coward, he shirks challenges all the time. Which I'd have no problem with if he was Messi, but he isn't, so he shouldn't

His numbers are better than hazard, but he has no end product.
He shows more fight than any other players we have, but hes a wimp...
some people just dont want him to succeed
